Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

HR messed with merit this year....

if you haven't already noticed HR provided the merit increases this year no management input what so ever,so make sure you check your PDF and don't be surprised if you see 0-1%. it appears it didnt have anything to do with performance, as i have heard high performers even got the low %..i am assuming it had allot to do with where you were in your pay level..

It is an easy way for Verizon to

Keep track of who to layoff next due to tenure aka "1% raise".

This leads to the situation that you reach your "top pay" and unless promoted, you stop receiving pay increases. How is that fair?

Funny, I got 4.5% and I'm right where most of the rest of the staff were for pay.

I got 5% for my increase this year and I work in healthcare now and not at VZW no more.

I wish they did this 10 years ago when favoritism cost me about $2k a year under a manager that thankfully is gone, she didn’t believe in the “same review, same STI” theory as any good manager would do

I think this is a fairer system. I got adjusted up since I make less than more tenured peers. To get a true raise you need to change jobs and/or companies.

My manager said the same thing, they had no control, this was an HR mandated thing. Got over 20 years, so just waiting for the RIF now.

Manager told me during my review that they had no input on merit. It was HRs decision.

I also got 1%. They said it was because I am at the high end of my tier.

30% staff cut is a conservative figure I'd wager.

Same here, I got a measly 1%... Along with our fake stock deferred bonus, staff cuts and a huge push for automation, morale here is beyond low. They are actually offering $500 Ovation Points (whatever it's called now) for ideas on how to automate your daily job functions... They are paying us for our ideas on how to RIF ourselves... What's more unbelievable is hundreds of ideas have been submitted by our idiotic coworkers.

To be fair though, a couple of guys in my center that were significantly below the industry average were given 3% by HR...

What call centers are impacted?

Heard and got the same. They also just announced 7 call center closures, and rumors are going around about a 30% staff cut.
