You will be doing the same job as you do right now, however your location will change - you will be working from home. Based on this, they are assuming that we are keeping our jobs but our location is changing. No more bldg leases, etc. Also, no more 65 minute daily commute for me (one way)...

This is just the beginning! First Transition call centers to HBA ....next, transition to third party vendors... It it only a matter of time.
People that are saying “what’s the big deal just work from home” have to remember that apparently they aren’t lifting the 90 minute (not mile) rule so to do HBA u have to live within a 90 min drive of a call center and for some peeps in these centers that are transitioning to HBA there isn’t another call center within a 90 min drive so they would have to relocate to a brick and mortar call center in different city or State or relocate to a home within 90 minutes of a brick and mortar call center to do HBA. Also, I am not in one of the effected centers, but we have HBA in my center. They haven’t posted openings in a while but I haven’t applied for it in past because my toddlers and 5 yappy chihuahuas make too much background noise. It’s my understanding, that in HBA, if u have too much background noise u have to go back to a center (if there’s an opening U can apply for) or get termed after too many warnings.
I work from home for 7 years. Best 7 years of my 20 years.
They told Little Rock they would be shutting the center down in October. They’re giving employees the option to relocate or work from home. But the work from home has lots of strings.
Was doing HBA, got a new manager that wanted his employees in the office daily, bought a car, then they moved to a different office/switch location, driving 130 miles a day . Then a new manager, said work from home was okay 3 days a week. Office 2 days a week for meetings. Reduced size of the cubical to the new corporate standard 3x5. Put up with that for 2 years then got RIF'd. Thank God!

Just having some fun at your expense @pem. No hard feelings, I hope. You actually got the right idea, seeing this glass as 1/2 full. I would love the opportunity to HBA, and cannot understand the negativity. For me, it would be a dream come true, and a mutually beneficial arrangement for all involved parties. Some seem to be looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Current HBA reps have to live within 90 miles from a call center, in case they actually have to go into a center for a training or if their internet at home goes down etc (a rule I’ve always thought was ridiculous). I’m assuming they are getting rid of that rule since some of the call centers that are “transitioning to HBA aren’t within a 90 mile radius of another call center. If they don’t, then the “transition to HBA” may not be as easy for some reps.
@zih, it is not impossible to manage if you’re willing to think outside the cubicle. Make it work! Have a supervisor sleep in the spare bedroom. Better yet, everyone move to a multi-dwelling-unit, such as a building, and make the supervisor the superintendent.
Actually, upon further reflection, you may have a point.
BTW, if you’re HBA, and you call out sick, do you call yourself? 🤔
Are you allowed to enter the room you’re using as an office? 🤔

Also beware of the fact that if you were listed as a remote employee inside the system – – you are automatically a target if someone gets a bug about laying off people who are not in the tower locations. That happened last year inside VES .
@gzg, agreed. And, should there ever be a work stoppage, picketing one’s own house can be a real drag, with the family crossing the line and all, to say nothing of that EWA moving in ;-)
Working from home aint what it is cracked up to be...Be careful of shady characters bringing these brain surgeon ideas to the table. This way they more the operating expense to the employee, data service, electric, heat, insurance all comes out of some other pocket...yours!. Also cuts down the 'teamwork attitude' when you work alone. What is their true plan and timetable to farm out your jobs to a third party?
