In the last contract, the Union caved on increased medical out-of-pocket expense, reduced sick days, etc. Why? Because the membership started whining after realizing they couldn’t go more than 7 weeks without a paycheck. Also, took the Union over a year to show the new contract to the rank and file. If this was the “best contract in years” why would they wait to show it to the members?
I personally will be taking the Super EISP being offered February 14th - off payroll March 31st.

There is another 180-200K to be made between then and now. I am sure I will find a way to "survive". In any case I am not concerned. Worst case scenario just take the pension and move on. There is not even a good reason to even look for a job. The joke is most of us on this side may work here longer than we wish waiting for our EISP packages.

Trump has saved Verizon so much money between his new corporate tax rate, repatriation of overseas money, and Ajit scrapping net neutrality that Verizon is rolling in dough and even instantly wiped out the $10B they were wanting to save over the next few years with one swipe of the president's pen. Believe me, there will be no more crying poor man by Verizon in 2019!
