Its so demotivating to have someone your leader with such a small experience and then you are explaining these rookie managers all the ABCs to make decisions of things they don't have any technical depth.

I want you to look up anyone you hear of in the VLDP in the corporate directory. You’ll find their parent is some bigwig in the company somewhere.

Hope so

VLDP has about a 10% success rate at my location. The majority of the people who come out of that program are absolute duds. A bunch of clueless, rubber stamp matrix managers, very few have a handle on the big picture. Leadership thinks that they can cycle these people through roles like RF Design or Network Engineering for 6 months and think they will come out at the end of their rotations ready to lead. Has a really negative impact on the rest of the org.

VLDP is one of the primary STDs that have been eliminated/erradicated due to the new antibiotics being manufactured by the Trump administration.

In the near future all 3rd world VLDPs and STDs will be exterminated .... because Trump has the biggest button .... and it works.

Poof!

Thank you Mr DM or HR person for your Verizon approved answer which is completely false. It was a drive to promote minority’s like their is a push to hire women into management now. See WOW (women of Wireless).

To those who responded. Please do not make up stuff about VLDP.

FYI about the program:

In 2011, Verizon rolled out a new “Verizon Leadership Development Program” (VLDP) across the enterprise. VLDP objectives include:

Becoming college students’ first-choice employer.

Capturing a larger share of exceptional talent.

Building future bench strength across Verizon.

Grooming future leaders.

“VLDP recruits the highest-performing college graduates at strategic partnership schools with 10- to 12-week Verizon internships and semester-long co-ops as a primary feeder pool for the full-time college hire VLDP,” Yrizarry says. VLDP currently supports Finance, Network Operations, Engineering, IT, Human Resources, and Marketing. After graduation and upon hire, participants complete a minimum of two job rotations. The number and length of job rotations varies between functions over the course of two or three years in the program. All VLDP hires experience a 24-month customized leadership curriculum road map focused on cultural immersion and self-awareness, operational effectiveness, high performance, and leadership preparation. In addition, each function has a functional-specific curriculum road map and experiential development activities.

while yes, it was targeted to assist minorities, it also has a goal to have leadership of all levels match modern day society....aka...not just old white folks. VLDP = verizon leadership development program.

Many of them dont even become managers at the end of it anyway, and the ones that are managers after the program have actually been great/worthy of the title, and pretty sharp.....the few I've worked with anyway.

It was a program to help minority’s get promoted faster without having to earn the promotion. It was like a ten step program to be a manager.
