Anyone heard anything about the future of the Legacy "T" Long Distance/CORE Fiber. This is the original AT&T fiber that goes across country, i.e. Los Angeles to New York. All the fiber talk is about the local fiber i.e. to the cell towers, and premises. Do you thing AT&T wants to keep this part of the network? It does not seem like they are putting any money into that part of the network. Any thoughts, or rumors?

The watermark for Legacy T CWA represented employees is 3200 through 04/14/2018 per the contract ratified in 2015, page 269. In addition, there are watermarks of 800 employees under article 43 for Network Technical Specialist and Internet Data Center Technical Specialist.
So, there's more than 1400. There are several hundred Comm Techs. Any consolidation will probably be confined to Account Reps and other sales and service, since Legacy T's clec business is defunct or nearly defunct.
And the 12/15/2017 had a grand total of 32 occupational employees laid off, at least half was sales and service.

What kind of work do those 1400 Leg T contributors perform?
I am affected by the 12/15/17 surplus announcement as legacy T I spoke with several management friends that I've known and worked with for over 20 years. They all agree that the company's goal is to whittle legacy T down as much as possible before contract negotiations in March 2018. The few that are left will be given an option to move to the legacy S contract or lose their job since the company plans on not renewing the legacy T contract At last count, the numbers I saw reflect, as of the 12/15/17 surplus, less than 1400 legacy T people left across the nation.
