When are store consolidations going to start? If they renew lease is the store safe? How are they making the decisions?

You stupid.. GameStop Sold the Spring stores business and got $734 mil cash and cut debt by $300 mil and bought back 12 mil shares
I am a field tech for the AT&T IT dept and I've been hearing pure rumors that the IHX people would be why stores would close, but haven't heard anything significant to support that rumor. Also, I'm not sure if this means anything, but we were just given responsibility for supporting for the DTV setups in the AR locations, with the rumored hope that it will give us a foot in the door to take over for all their IT support - even higher management has this hope, or so they say.
Spring has a 78% turn over rate. Who's going to work in those stores?
Prime has ramped up to acquire tons of stores as well. They’ve cleaned up their retail channel significantly.
I forgot to mention that Spring has also opened a few new stores recently.

Spring is privately owned by GameStop and therefore has no stock of its own.

GameStop has not stated publicly (and I doubt privately) that it is considering filing for bankruptcy protection and even if it was that doesn’t mean the end is near.

Spring has closed 100’s of un-profitable stores that they picked up in their several acquisitions over the last few years, many are closed permanently a few have been taken over by other retailers, some are just relocations and a few are being transitioned to GameStop stores. Spring is still at 1200 stores and has been trying to prepare for significant growth that is set to begin in the next couple of months.

Spring is closing stores. They no longer have the capital to fund their stock due to mismanagement. Gamestop is considering filing for bankruptcy due to market share lost to digital downloads.
Since when are spring and GameStop in trouble? Both are still profitable and looking to evolve in order to stay that way.
How is the CWA likely going to handle the transition of so many of its members from one company it has a contract with to several companies it doesn’t.

COR is scheduled to start closing stores. Eventually T will run AR's out of business. The business plans don't mesh. In order to hit the numbers COR stores are you need to be cramming customers with unwanted features and slamming them with unwanted services. I.e. MPP for features and DTV premium for services. Spring mobile is learning that. Hitting metrics doesn't equal higher profits. Just shows growth in the company they represent. AT&T shares increase, AR profits decrease. Just look at this previous quarter. DTV wasn't required for the BOGO, sales went up. This translates to employees being let go and AR stores closing. Those AR's which are publically traded like Spring will no longer be funded by Gamestop which is in trouble itself. T must come up with a better way of having stores or they will only have people buying through online.
You’re such an idiot. It’s not trolling. It’s truth. It’s already happened in MANY areas of the U.S. quietly. You’re probably an ignorant RSM thinking you’re safe in retail. Quality is there with AR as well. I work for Prime now, and you wouldn’t believe the transformation the retail channel has undergone to accommodate this change. See you on the flip side!
How many opps an AR is capable of is meaningless. The production in other metrics based on those opps are way off from what COR stores do. Level 2’s and 3’s aren’t going to AR and the fact that this rumor keeps popping up on this site with a new date every couple months is straight trolling.
AR really isn’t a joke anymore, and yes, they can handle heavy traffic. When I was an RAE, I had a local who had three stores. Two of them put out over 700 ops and one of them over 1,000 ops per month with no issue. If you think this isn’t going to happen, you’re ignorant.
There is no way they can close a high volume level 2 either. These stores are very busy and authorized dealers would not be able to handle them. Or not have a corporate store in a big city, let’s say if they already had a level 2. I’m sure the company would keep at least 1 COR store in every major town even if it was not level 3 or store of the future. That would really hurt their business, AR is a joke

So, if you’re a level 1 close to an AR? You will close?
If a COR store is within 5-10 miles of an AR it’ll be closed. If further than 10 it’ll be converted to AR and you’ll need to apply with that company if you’d like to continue working there.
Expect level 1 stores to move to AR locations by end of March 2018. Leases do not matter as leases can be transferred or bought out. Not all level 1 stores, but a majority.
