Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T uses layoffs to manipulate bottom line for shareholders

AT&T uses layoffs to manipulate bottom line for shareholders. Instead of increasing profits through innovation, they buy up companies and cut jobs. They are also proof positive that trickle-down economics doesn't work because any revenue gained is used to increase shareholder profits, not to reinvest in the economy, their work force, or their communities.

Perfectly said, @Q3sy8Gp-qotr. This has been AT&T's modus operandi for a while now. Long gone are the days when we actually invested in innovation. That's only seen as waste of money nowadays. Sad but true.

AT&T's product lines are in the mature to decline stage of the product life cycle. So new ways to generate revenue have to be discovered. It can come from either make or buy decisions. It isn't just layoffs. All budgets lines have been cut. Some deeply. More people are being asked to do more with a lot less resources. This will intensify in 2018.

The AT&T business strategy is to milk the existing customer base for digital advertising. They want nothing more than to make money by acting as a billboard for advertising by the side of the information highway. This does not require technical innovation.

My dog has a better long term business plan than Randy does.
