C&E SVP Bloodworth On Surplus

C&E SVP Bloodworth open Mic call stated that there’s is a small number of surplus for next year for management scheduled for 2018. SVP confirmed that some areas will shrink . She also informed they want to push from project management to PROGRAM management.

Fret not and be prepared .

You would think someone would ask the question, additional clarification, timing and so forth. Sounds like it was one of those ‘pre-calls’ to prepare for a bigger announcement but not familiar with this org so don’t want to start any rumors.

Nothing but soon on this. Companies have project managers and program managers. This is nothing new. I would have asked Veronica Bloodworth what she meant by her statement.

Which organizations have project managers that could do things more efficiently? Are you referring to the PMO?

There are too many "project managers" at AT&T. This is the title you get as a manager if you don't have direct reports. There are too many orgs (Bloodworth's is one) that have their own "project managers", while there are entire organizations that are comprised of mostly professional, certified, project managers that could take their work on and do it more efficiently. I believe you'll see a trend to start pushing work to these orgs... and if I held the "professional tech project management" title in a different org I might be a bit nervous.
