Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

What ever happened to ethics and morals

I know several reps who have had enough of the shady ways our management wants us to sell and are about to do something about. Let's just say sh--s about to hit the fan in many locations. Hey Mr customer this hum aka roadside assistance is included in your plan. Let's not tell them about the 2 year contract or line access. And if they try and bring it back tell them it was included in the "bundle" and their bill will go up if they bring it back. And let's just log onto random accounts and move them from the 9 to 11 dollar tmp. And tell our customers it's included in the first 30 days if you decide you don't want it we can take it off. No your still paying for it for the first 30 days. So much more goes on than that. Reps have been documenting these transactions with managers and customers get ready if your a shady manager your about to be contacted by hr and at that point if nothing gets done we are going to the press and social media. You and the company will be affected.

The whole ethical stuff is overstated here. Retail selling is almost never trying to do the best for the customer, you are meant to represent the interests of the company who is paying you. Only once in my years as a shopper have I been told to go to a different store because "they sell this cheaper than us". So yes, with the assumption that you want this person to buy something from you, it's good to guide them to the best fit in that space, but don't pretend that you will happily send them to buy elsewhere for the good of the customer.

If you're not fully disclosing everything about the product its unethical period end of story. Why is it so hard for you reps to sell the damn products without holding back info? This is why cell phone "sales" people aren't sales people. Try selling with integrity and full disclosure and see how that works for you?

It's not just a matter of slamming hums. It's not telling them the rest of what they are signing up for. For example the monthly fee, the 2 year contract....that is shady not disclosing ALL the info. Not just parts to get the sale. Our company has gotten so bad with this and management wants us to sell like this. It will get ugly real soon for many managers and reps. Coming soon

Even if they are on the no usage report, VZ is still getting the money ($10 per month?) right? So as far as leadership is concerned, that's fine.

And that still leaves unanswered the other point: do ethical reps tell people that their needs are served better with another carrier, or to save money by buying accessories on Amazon or wherever? If not, slamming HUMS is just a matter of degree, neither is acting in the customer's best interest

To the " Management "person below talking about the high volume salesperson who sells ( slams) Hums, you forgot to include the Non Usage Report were a majority are not used! You always try to spin the story about these Smiling Slammers to justify your job and how a great motivator of people you are. If he sold with integrity everyone would be used and not be on the Non Usage report. I hope this guy makes more videos they are pure fabrication.

Of course a high-volume salesperson is going to get recognition, the job function is to sell. Sure, pushing useless stuff isn't going to win "Humanitarian of the year" awards, but for those VzW retail people who feel purer: how often do you tell your customers, "with your type of usage, you will save money without losing anything significant going with an MVNO (or T-mobil/Sprint etc)" or explaining you can get the same accessories much cheaper on line?

And, if you do in fact do this, why should VZ pay you!

there are some honest sale people , that make a decent living ,ive been with company 10 plus years and have made a nice living with a nice nest egg, being shady is a slippery slope it always comes back to bite those who cant sell and scam in the as . slamming us unethical but qualifying and actually recommending and selling with excitement and gaining a sale is perfectly valid , were not clerks , at least those that make a nice living , say what you want like why would anyone go into a store ,when your phone is broken and you have no clue if you backed up anything or cant remember a password because your "too smart" to have to worry about that, most store traffic is those who cant wipe their own butt , including the union landline "geniuses" , stores are not going anywhere, abd indirect is an absolute shtshow as they have no clue what their doing and the culture vzw has created for their customers is ridiculous ,i couldnt tell you how many facebook, email , gmail, and other user responsible things we help with , thats the culture our vzw leadership wanted , our customers are ebabled and whiney c*nts

It's like buying a car when you walk into a VZ store. Avoid all eye contact...Buyer BEWARE!...as the salespeople are 4 steps lower than a car salesman.

HR is just as shady as those reps and managers.

Whatever since when did Verizon ever have integrity.

As a Verizon employee, I brought my own cousin into a store to help her upgrade her phone and watched the sales rep try and slam a bunch of accessories on her. And they knew I was an employee. So embarrassing.

Trouble is "shady" is a pretty subjective term. Pushing hums on those that don't need them, selling a more expensive smartphone than is justified etc? Certainly not great for the customer but easily passed off as standard sales tactics, you are basically in a commodity market and the customer should be more informed.

This is very different from the Wells Fargo case where the customer had no idea that the additional counts existed

Don't go to hr? It will come back and bite me? Hahaha myself as well as the other reps part of this bringing all the shady stuff to light are leaving. Some are not but they don't want to stand there and let things happen that are not ethical or right. You must be one of those shady reps or managers about to get turned it. Good luck to ya

If you feel strongly that unethical things are happening and being sanctioned by management, then you shouldn't have a problem using any number of whistle blower avenues that are out there.

In my district, we have a guy who "slams" 50-60 hum a month and 40-50 show on zero usage report. Nothing gets done about it. He's going to presidents cabinet of course and gets monthly shoutouts for being 300 percent to quota. Don't lie, cheat or steal... Just slam!

Give them some of what Wells Fargo got for screwing their customers for profit.

I have also been contacted from reps from other locations. I can't wait for the shady people to get what they deserve. Reps and managers. And if nothing gets done we know the company wants us to sell like this. Also wanting us to move customers using .1 gb of data to an unlimited plan are you kidding me? What ever happened to helping the customer and selling them what they actually need? Not taking advantage of them.
