INSIDER INFO: Verizon plans to handover 100s of Locations to Indirect Retailers

I am a 15 Yr Veteran of Verizon, coming over from ALLTEL in the retail side of the Business. Verizon is planning to handover 100s of corporate locations to Indirect partners, thus following T-Mobiles business philosophy having indirect run more than 85 percent of the locations. I am in the West Coast region and i see layoffs happening very soon, i will be taking action immediately before its too late,

l worked for Verizon corporate until 8 months ago. l am in leadership for the indirect company l work for, l was informed there would possibly be some under performing corporate locations we would take over mid 2018. l beleive this is a smart move on Vzw end as it would save much on the operational back end costs. When and if this happens the right thing to do is for Verizon to plan strategically and make sure employees are given enough notice to look for other positions within company or look for a new job elsewhere.

I know of roughly 15 employees laid off on the 16th. Retail is next or moving to ID. Look at the retail armageddon out there. Don't believe the media BS all is well, just because the market is going up. Smoke / mirrors and phony accounting. Debt per person has never been higher, and now you are saddled 100's of thousands of debt in your early 20's with college. Then a car and house and all of a sudden you're a slave. TPTB have a good plan keep a few in power, you get to work your a-- off until replaced by a robot or someone else does your job and their own. Welcome to the next great depression that escalates over the next 5 years. Doom pron over, too bad its true.

It's going to happen sooner then we think. Indirect is gearing up for a huge takeover

The sooner the better, then the indirect locations can't send all the Bulls-it to the corporate stores on issues that No one can fix or take care of themselves( email passwords, locked out phones, 3rd party apps, phone content transfer, trade in promotions,( that they iniated),sending people for loaner phone(haven't seen a loaner phone in 10 years) prorate issues caused by them. It goes on and on with other issues that no one would believe. I guess when it happens they will send the people to another reseller!LOL!

We’re a legacy store, getting a remodel on December 18 (2 weeks to January 1). Think we’re going next gen or reseller?

Great just great! l work for a 1st gen Store we had indirect leadership in our location 3 weeks ago doing observations and checking out the area. This puts two pieces of the puzzle together. Time to hit the job search engines.

One of two scenarios is happening. Either a) your store is currently on the list for the "next gen" update (happening as we speak) and will be sticking around while those stores NOT on the "next gen" list will be turned over...

Or b), the "next gen" stores will be turned over and we'll keep the old ones.

I'm thinking more so the former, not the latter.

The "legacy," so called "bridge" stores have no updated Verizon logo and still have the old "Verizon Wireless" signage. If your location isn't a "smart" store or one of the legacy stores...I'd be updating my resume.

When those leases are up on the old locations, they will NOT be renewed and shuttered...or they'll be turned over to Indirect. It's going to happen.

In Plains North they are having Retail DMs work with Indirect DMs in a partnership. It’s meant to make a lesser “us vs them” mentality and strengthen “Vzw vs the other 3”

I joined the Verizon sales team 3 months ago, i hear Veteran/seasoned salespeople complain all day that they are not being compensated properly. such a competitive market in the job market.

Makes perfect sense why Verizon is spending so much money on building Indirect's business. Cheaper labor, less commissions, lower overhead, no benefits.

Actually a smart move by the company, s---s for those affected. Employees are expensive, and so are their benefits. I'm actually surprised that VZ didn't try to fire and rehire the majority of management as benefit-less contractors years ago.

Looks like i will be on the job market ASAP. Wireless is not the same as before. Being part of the South Central Market and the retail cuts made last year i am not taking no chances.

Seen that happen in the past, bust definitely see it happening now more then ever before. It has recently happend here in NM, it will spread in the year to come. It now makes sense why there has been budget cuts in the past weeks, not only that but quotas are higher then ever before causing a high turnover in employees. Too many people here are drinking the corporate koolaid, Verizon is not the same time to move on.
