Hypothetically, let’s say tomorrow comes and goes but no one gets RIF’d (here’s hoping), will you leave this site and assume it’s just here to spread FUD? Or will you go the “where there’s smoke there’s fire” route and assume the layoffs just got delayed?

I've been affected by RIFs in the past, as far as I can tell for today, appears to be nothing happening other than the normal re-org stuff. Lots of shuffling but not out the door.

The writing is on the wall. I don't believe there will be massive lay offs like they did to thousands of valuable employees this year, but tomorrow they launch a program that basically tells thier guests to take ownership of thier own content, and set up thier own phones, making the retail employee essentially worthless. They also dropped a bombshell today with 2 minutes notice that guests will no longer get thier 25% employment discount on accessories in store... Instead, they can go online to get it.... I'm not sure if Verizon thinks thier employees are stupid at this point, or if they truley just don't give a sh-- anymore, but it's apparent that they are phasing the retail chain out. They are moving everything to an online only basis, and it is going to make thier already unatainable quotas that much more unatainable. Lowell and the boys need to make sure they are still getting paid though. F--- the little guys and gals. I get it. Doesn't make it right, but I get it. T-Mo will be there soon. AT&T have been working on the same model for a while. Cell phone providers will simply be vending machines by 2030. Just wait for the severance. In the meantime, be looking for a new job, because there is 0 loyalty from the company that asks so much of you. "Because Thanks"

It is not a dud. I already know one guy got laid off 6:30pm today. My manager confirmed that there will be RUF last week. And new NNO VP said it in a whole department meeting/WebEx. So it is real. VP said everything will be done by end of the year(re-org)

My boss in VZW network department has already confirmed that RIFs are coming but just didn't give me the date. I am assuming it's Thursday since historically it's always been on a Thursday. I also see there is a hiring freeze going on in most departments company wide. That usually only happend when RIFs are coming.
We will know in about 8 hours how deep they really cut. It could be history making.
