Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Network Assurance RIF

Received my notice today 10 AM. Struggling because two other people in my group kept their jobs who had developing twice in the last 4 years . I hadn’t been here 11 strong all performing . Really going through the emotions on this right now . Sad, unknown etc ... I went to HR twice in the last 6 months about safety. Maybe that is why I was on bottom?

HR doesn’t make the decisions about who is impacted. I highly doubt it has anything to do with you going to HR.

I feel the same amount of confusion. Ive never had a bad review and several that remained have. In fact I was working very hard and primarily alone on a tool that would carry my team in the future. They let 5 of a 15 person team go that was already struggling for more manpower. The only connection between all the chosen layoffs were prior military service. What a slap in the face. Oit of all my years of service Id really just like to know why I was picked?

Agree with other posts. If there was a safety issue your Manager was not able/willing to correct you should of called 800-321-OSHA. OSHA has a total hard-on for the wireless carriers and are levying HUGE fines against them.

Good luck!!!

Correct. The primary function of HR is to reduce the exposure of the company to lawsuits. If HR ever does anything for you that is ONLY because that action is also in the best interests of the company. They are not your friend. That's not just VZ, that is everywhere.

That’s exactly why. Our HR doesn’t protect us.
