Was just wondering if Verizon usually does layoffs on the same day or if they do it over a few days? I'm rather new here (less than a year) so this is all new to me. I'm just wondering if tomorrow is the only day we need to get through or if they'll drag it out over a few days?

All done same day accross the departments. If you are out of office they call you. If they can't reach you, you might get notified the day after. 2015 layoff was bad. People escorted like criminals with 2 manager, HR and security guards. 2017 was more appropriate. People notified and given 1month. They were told they can come continue to work or stay home and try to find another job.
Did you ever read the book Old Yeller? Kind of like that ending.
Honestly being so new, you are probably OK. You really are just a number, and your number (ie. salary) is probably low compared to folks who were aquired and have been in the business for years...
Hehe... "just wondering if tomorrow is the only day we need to get through or if they'll drag it out over a few days"... Try months! Make it through tomorrow, then you repeat the process next quarter!
Treat your days at Verizon like a contracting gig... always be looking for new opportunities.

It is usually done in one day, but if there are problems (such as can't reach you) in can be the next.
So in Feb I was notified on a Friday, following others being told on Thu. (Not sure why, as I was available on the Thursday)
