Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Come on V teamers! FLEX through it (Focus, Learn, EXplore)

It was officially anknowleged by a new VP. George in a whole department meeting. He said 10% across the board. Some teams will get 50% and some will get less than 10% . But everyone will get hit for sure. He said it will be in 2 weeks and that was 2 weeks ago. Then there will be reorg. VZB and VZW will formally merged for department wise. If the verizon and VZW has same departments, they will be one department. Then, people will get shuffled around. Lots of menagerial changes and reorg coming down the pipe. All will be done by the end of year.

Buckle your seat belts, its going to be a rough ride tomorrow.

Everyone I've talked to here hadn't heard anything. Nothing going on around here either that I can see. Maybe will be targeted RIFs so some areas see nothing.

Usually first thing in the morning. If you have a cool boss, you get some time to get things together, and he or she may even let you stay connected until the official off the books date. Some make you work til that date and others say to go home and look for a job but don't worry about doing anything work related. It really depends.

Though we don’t want to prepare.. if i’m affected I’m walking out of here with my dignity intact. I have given this place the best of my 20’s, 30’s AND MY 40’s.... I have considered leaving in the past because over the last 7 years this place has changed drastically for the worst..... this would be the perfect outlet and farewell..... Though it’s sad for some..... please remain hopeful... Verizon is not the alpha and omega..

@1rw How does it usually work? When would we be notified? Does it come via email? Phone call? Usually in the morning?

I left in 2015. Getting that notification is one of the worst feelings in the world. If it happens to you, be assured there is a wider world out there with jobs and employers where you’re appreciated and you’re happy to go to work every day. I’m not gonna lie, you’re gonna feel like crap for a while and work hard to find a new job. My advice? Enjoy the holidays with your families without the dread of going back to VZ. You will get through this and be better for it on the other side.

As an RSS that was fortunate enough to be hired back in sales. I agree. There is no preparation for this. I feel I am safe but am ready for the severance if it comes.

It’s for real folks. Joe Schmucks has been dead for weeks and there’s talk about the RIF there too.
