Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I just submitted my app

I work for VZ right now. I just submitted my app for T. I’m excited because T is doing some cool things unlike VZ who is buying old internet companies. Any advice on a sales rep coming in? Also it shows $10-$21 starting pay. I’m over $17 now. How do I get the higher end of that scale?

Does anyone know if the cable desk call center in Pasadena CA is facing a surplus (layoff)? They just offered a buyout and then an "intent" to surplus...think they will make a second offer first?

Did some research on the wage rate for ya... across all regions the RSC’s top within a few cents of 17.25 an hour. Period.

There is a “Senior RSC” position listed which pays just over $20 an hour. I am not sure how you get into that. ALSO our Sales Support tops out low 20’s (unlike Verizon Wireless) because they aren’t eligible for commission. Sort of makes up for some of that.

Run...T is surplusing employees at an unheard of rate...all this year...IT, billing, retail assistant managers, area retail sales managers, director of sales, business retail sellers, business sales managers, business associate directors, global business and more to come 1st quarter 2018...why hasn’t the media picked up on this

This company is laying off people at a record pace. I'm surprised the media has not picked up on the thousands losing their jobs. The company is squeezing employees, and the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. Stay away from T. The outsourcing of people, internal systems and support is absolutely destroying this company. Terrible leadership, and greedy shareholders. I hope someone wakes up. I still work here, and I'm looking for other opportunities, as a result of these problems. Good luck out there everyone.

Most areas (unless super high cost of living) tops is 17-18. Ask HR how many months of wage credit you were given (48 is topping out).

My advice, go with a real software technology company.... AT&T could have dominated web hosting, and later cloud services when it bought legacy "T" which had a dynamite web hosting service started by AT&T Solutions.... but alas, Whitacre and company screwed it up, and gave up the future cloud business to Amazon, Microsoft and IBM.... What a total f up! Now the company is DESPERATE for new revenue streams as the old ones, like phone lines before, are drying up... Uverse Internet service is no longer growing like they forecasted just a year ago. T-Mobile deal lost $4Billion with nothing to show. DTV is losing subscribers to OverTheTop services... DirectvNOw- is already a commodity player... TimeWarner acquisition is looking grim.....

I’m not a rep, but the post above speaks the truth. It can be a good company depending on your leadership and team. There are major cost cutting and layoffs (aka surpluses) going on this week. We’ve had many senior leaders jump ship this year. My entire leadership structure changed this year more than once. That in unheard of. Only familiar leaders I have are my immediate supervisor and the ceo. Everyone else left or moved.

Don't come to T.....it's a sinking ship, everything is in disarray, surplusses are everywhere, store closing snare imminent. New accountability platforms are launching, TV is everything. I am not a rep, I have some visibility into the near future. Beware, the grass isn't always greener.
