I've noticed that when people talk about across the board cuts here, the same groups seem to always pop up. Network, IT, etc... I don't think the cuts are across the board. I have been told no cuts in our group. I'm in a group that's a whipping boy for this board, so I won't say what it is.
Talked to someone today in another group deep in wireless ops and he was told the 11/16 was true and it's across the board, so clearly that story is being told to people.
Finance is already being reduced, wave by wave. Been going on for a while.

Thats why most of the layoffs have been in Wireless. No union and ez to pick and choose the victim. Unions are contracted. VZ has to abide by language so until 2019 adios Wireless sheep.
No, not those groups :) I guess basically every group is hated here.
@QaywKup-lnq - it really depends on the culture of your team. My VP and director are pretty open with these things.

In Feb 2017, I was assured by a director that there was going to be 10-15% cuts "across the board, all groups" in March. I think he really believed it, as he had been told that his group was safe (one of the few in his org actually producing a product). Sure enough, some other groups in his organization did get deep cuts, but really nothing across the board at that point.
Which leads me to think that very few people at lower levels (below SVP say) will really know what cuts are going to take place outside their business unit. Why should they. So agreeing with OP, that across the board is probably not true, but of course that doesn't help you know if your group is targeted.
Are any of these "across the board cuts" involving the wireline side???
