The only thing they are good at is reorgs and retitles to justify a bunch of AVP's and Exec Directors they don't need not to mention the Directors and and Area Managers.

You might want to consider relocating to India. Lots of IT jobs there and the cost of living is really low....lots of snakes though Cobras and vipers...
Guys this is happening at nearly every company. It’s why I warn young Americans not to go into IT. No other profession age discriminates, outsources offshores etc at same level as western IT organizations
I find it amusing that the Union workers think they were laid off as they had not updated their skills. They why would 500 IT Management people were shown the door on the 10/16 surplus Notice with a last day a week before Christmas. These were well qualified Engineers and Project Managers. Surprisingly the news media has been blanketed from this continuous layoffs of Knowledgeable resources going on in AT&T since T-Mobile whipped its butt and the DTV merger going terribly wrong. AT&T has never learnt to buy small companies and then let it grow. It goes for the big ones and saves money by laying off its people. The TW merger should be opposed only for this reason. What is the point of these mega merger when saving come only from laying off its employee. There should be a 5 year ban from any layoffs for such merging companies.
Good at reorgs? I don't know what part of the company you work in but where I work there is such complete confusion about responsibilities and work that many people have just given up trying to do a good job, it is just impossible in this environment.
At this point the company just seems to be operating on momentum, with lots of middle management dinosaurs screwing things up even more than usual. No one is at the helm, all attention is focused on the TW deal and the numbers for the next quarter that impact bonuses.
The company is nothing more than a tech retail reseller. Essentially the 7–11 of cool things other companies have invented. If you look at it that way then recent events are easily understood.
