Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Test Clubs

Ok Guys . here we go again. If you work at one of the test clubs then tell us how things are going. If this site is truly anonymous you will not get into trouble for telling us all how bad it s---s. Other than one or two saying they are in a test club we have heard nothing about how it is going if indeed it is truly going.

I am in one of the original test clubs, and in our case, as it stands now, it s---s. They expect us to do all the stocking on the floor, plus freezer and cooler, run our receiving dock pull bakery/cafe/meat/hms lists help with resets and so on. Obviously, there is less time to do everything, especially anything forklift-related; add the fact that we have fewer scheduled at a time now due to the shift being split and it’s great. The closers end up spending most of their time zoning since apparently, our managers don’t feel like getting the product out on the floor actually matters to drive sales. Oh, and often times there is only one forklift driver to do all of those things. Coincidentally, the only people being held accountable for anything are the old night shift people while the same near useless people get away with essentially robbing payroll.

As a forklift driver (one of the few in our club) it seems like I spend more time getting stuff for the fresh departments than I do in my own areas since no one in any of those areas has a lift license! I also have to pick up and consolidate all their pallets since leave stuff down all the time. Add in all fix-up/clean up stuff to go along with everything, yeah, it’s been frustrating, to say the least.

I’m not saying I don’t see potential to this, but I don’t have the faith in management to make the necessary changes to allow this program to work better. In m experience with it, an extra 2-3 people for the opening shift and maybe 2 for closing would make Is far better, but I know they don’t want to add payroll.

Verifies what I already figured. This is a way to blend night crew and day crew so ultimately there are less workers all together. Also sounds to me that that GM is a typical day shifter , concerned that day shift gets help from night shift but not wanting to give night shift any help. Here is an example of what I mean.

We on night shift have been threatened with coachings if the Freezer / Cooler boxes are not 100 percent clean in the morning when we leave. All skids wrapped and in the steel and the floor swept. But. Routinely when we come in day shift has dropped skids , left them unwrapped and left the boxes in a mess. Constant double standard.

Not in a test club but the club closest to ours is and the gm lives in my town and stops st our store all the time she has said it helps having night shift switched to days because there is more people on the floor to help all day that’s all I know
