Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I'll trade this bonus for job security

Isn't it sad that one day before Christmas I'm on this page looking for info on any incoming layoffs out of fear I'll have to return some of the stuff I got for my family because I'm suddenly unemployed?

One time bonus from AT&T that's here just to placate us will not solve this issue. We need job security. I'd gladly trade my bonus for that.

You need to talk to your "Union" about job security--- They do a crappy job at negotiating these days, so -- Good luck with that!!!

“In his Dec 20. email. Randall stated the if the President signs the tax bill before Christmas, employees will receive the bonus over the holidays.”

I guess he considers Dec. 29th a holiday lol.

Only been here for 2 decades, but I've heard this so many times from corporate mouth pieces. "Customers prefer our automated call systems:, WHY, To spend hours trying to navigate a voice call tree to speak to a human who "might" be empowered to solve your problem. Or this, "Our customers enjoy the ability to use the "app" to resolve any issues with their service. If you have to force customers to use that "app" that is broken in typical AT&T fashion, then I am seriously worried. We have a MBA numbers guy at the helm, NOT a technological savvy individual.

Lay off thousands but give out extra bonuses? Sounds like management has no f---ing idea what they are doing. Lots of open jobs on the At&t website....I have an idea...WHY DONT YOU TRAIN THE PEOPLE YOU ARE LAYING OFF FOR THE OPEN JOBS!

Finally a factual comment.

Reduce outsourcing to answer the question: Why would you be kept on the payroll?

The $1000.00 bonus is being issued in February.

Why would you be kept on the payroll? If the workload is down or the function is no longer needed, would you pay the salary of an employee just to sit there doing nothing? If you no longer wanted your pool, are you going to pay the pool guy to come by and look at your hole in the ground?

Businesses are in place to make a profit. Period. If you don't provide value, you will not get a paycheck. Make yourself valuable. You are not entitled to be employed, snowflake.

Oh yea, let me save you the trouble: "Troll!" "Shill for Randall!" "Management lackey!"

200 million can keep about 2,000 on the payroll for one more year. I think that would be a better use of the money. Unfortunately, the company chose the other option in the hopes of getting good publicity, which seems to be backfiring right now.

1k is a big bonus? It's garbage. How many millions will Randy take for himself this year? Give that to the hundreds he pink slipped

If you’re that concerned about being laid off you shouldn’t be buying stuff.
