Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Donovan Town Hall Feedback

What are your thoughts on John Donovan's town hall where he stated priority #1 is fixing our culture? Not being the same place that his family member worked at 80 years ago. Not having to go to the office, not having to attend every meeting, letting those professionals that have been hired to do their thing. Do you think it's smoke or do you feel there is change coming?

About time someone at the top acknowledges something that has been broken for 8 years now. Comments appreciated

The real question is who has the company promoted to management, the hard workers who are innovative and forward thinking? No, they usually promote the s--- ups and those who are willing to act as hatchet men.

Management makes the decisions that drive the company direction, plans and policies. Blaming everyone else except management for the condition of this company is either naive or outright dishonest.

AT&T upper management playing the victim is so absurd it is difficult to even take it seriously at any level.

That is said very decade. The only thing changing is the percentage of contractors is going up and the percentage of employees is declining. Just start monitoring the web phone with scree shots. They are firing people and offshoring the jobs.

People blaming management for all the company's problems are overlooking one major point: most of the company's managers are AT&T vets, and they are terrible.

AT&T needs a youth movement like a fat kid needs cake. Get them out and let others have a chance.

No Randy, you are wrong. Bad management and no interest by upper management in building a long term, successful business are the real problems.

We all know you will be out the door soon with your golden parachute so your attempt to tarnish the reputations of the hard working people who built this company is weak and pathetic.

You talk about building a culture like Googles but your management practices are closer to those of Burger King.

Veteran AT&T employees are the single biggest deterrent to AT&T becoming a more dynamic and agile company. I don't even see how you can attract and retain new hires out of the top schools once they get a load of who they have to work with.

Sorry, but it is THAT BAD.

All management in this company lie. They lie to keep you working while they scheme to stab you in the back.

The new culture is located offshore. John loves you, now get out.

This was one of the least believable town halls of all time,

This nonsense about keeping competent workers is opposite of the constant layoffs we all face. Just trying to make you feel good before kicking you out the door and offshoring you job, becuase it's so great in India, we all want to be just like that, there's your new culture. If it was so great why is it a giant povert stricken place.

Not sure who is worse Randall, Stanley or Donovan, they all lie and could care less about the ATT worker. These are greedy people and the Ponzi scheme is about up

It's BS to make you complacent. They know masses are looking to bail. Good luck to all.

Acknowledging a broken system and fixing it are two different things. AT&T is trying to compete in Silicon Valley it’s Time they start offering their employees the benefits that other tech companies enjoy.

The problem with T is that they get rid of their qualified workers and they end up going to our competitors. Not smart! If T wants to continue to be competitive we need to recognize and retain those who make positive impacts on the business and get rid of those who don’t.

Technology is always going to displace workers. If you’ve invested time and money in to reskilling yourself for the future T should recognize that and retain you. But we know this doesn’t happen.

The problem is management changes too much to worry about building relationships. In my last position I built valuable relationships to the business then I was part of a reorganization and no longer have those relationships.

I could go on and on about what’s broken in this company but the company is the titanic. It’s headed toward an iceberg and if Randy remains our captain we’re doomed.
