Verizon pretty much owns the internet thanks to MCI. And now that net neutrality has been repealed, Verizon can make money off what they got from MCI. By the way, once MCI shed itself of the Worldcom leadership, they started making money again so don't blame any of your ills on MCI. MCI's internet backbone, FiOS, and VzW are what is keeping this company afloat. Yeah we paid way too much for the rest of VzW. Crying don't change anything. You take what you have, try to figure out where you want to be, and then you run for it. All the crybabies can jump off while the rest of us ride the wave.
Well cricket is cheaper than VZW
And comcast is faster than DSL
And thats pretty much all VZ offers so.. Yeah.. Already boycotting by irony

Don't forget that Verizon started as GTE/Bell Atlantic and GTE took the blunt of lay offs and RIFs. Then VZ sells off the former GTE properties. Why did we GTE even merge with BA other than to line the pockets if a few executies who soon jump off with their golden parachute. Then VZ wireline merge with Wireless and stream of bad decision are made to put out an enormous amounts of money for Vodefone share of wireless, buy AOL which is worthless, Yahoo that is sinkimg, a bankrupt, in more ways than one, MCI. We even bought Terremark for their cloud technology but now VZ is going to AWS for their applications. Once the majority of Verizon’s IT talent is gone it will never be recovered, no matter how many off shore IT they hire, as it's a valuable resource that should not be taken lightly.
@OP, If you are a Verizon Data Services India employee who got riffed. I really hope you dont think you are going to get ANY sympathy from Verizon IT Wireline (former NyNex/Bell Atlantic) RIF'd employees. Karma is a "Witch" ain't it.? We ave all been there, done that over the last 20 years , displaced by Indian employees who CLAIMED to have advanced technical degrees from universities Google can't even find. The bean counters in Basking Ridge NJ chose you all over us because you worked over 60 hrs a week FOR Reduced salary or For Free because you were so happy to be in the United States.
