Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Black VDSI Friday - the worst day in history.

Many VDSI people got termination call today and all final formalities finished just like that. Worst management decision.

Surely in near future VDSI management ( whoever thought this layoff will achieve some goals) will fail and realize that you made biggest mistake which may even shutdown VDSI.....

Supervisors and management.... first you people need to be layoff... since you don't know anything...Learn to treat employees with respect then come back to this position.

The tax breaks are not for onshore development. So they will offshore and still get tax breaks. Win-Win for them!

I doubt that they will move much onshore. Even before Trump's election and tax plans, there were moves in VES to expand work in lower-cost countries such as Peru. Basically, as every US large company "discovered" India, the cost of getting good workers went way up . So globalization looks elsewhere.

These corporations are going to get tax breaks now, so therefore no need to offshore to India when they can get the work done onshore..

Must be your first layoff....I have been through many and they are all brutal...no compassion because its all about $$$$$$$$$$$ not emotion.

Really felt bad hearing this. I understand layoff may be inevitable, but I guess it should have been handled politely and more professionally. Give employees time and choice to quit themselves further. Change is catastropic. And we talk about change management to smoothly handling the change. Letting people to go off collectively in one day is what makes the situation looks bad. Should allow the employee to prepare and move rather chopping them.
