Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Take care of yourself

It is called capitalism. Find a better job. It is not going to get any better. We had VP tell people in Tucson, that the reason we should stay is because we have a great view of the Mtns. Sad.

I can say with certainty that I am not better off than everyone else. Far from it. I did however, know what my expenses would be in retirement and invested such that I have a cash flow to meet those expenses. Most of the smartest folks I worked with told me they would start saving "after their child was out of college". Which is about 30 years too late for compounding. Those guys/gals made LOTS more $$ than me and probably have more $$ saved than me. One kept it in the bank because "the stock market is just gambling". His huge house, 3 cars and eating out every night will have him working until he dies. In that regard, I am better off than him.

I do genuinely feel for wage slaves...but that is not the fault of Capitalism, and that is the suggestion of the poster several posts back.

-4cxh , clearly you are better than all of us. Thank you for reminding us that we should have listened to your wisdom and better-than-the-rest-of-us approach to life. Hope you feel better.

Well, that unicorn worked pretty well for me. Worked, invested, lived within my means, and retired at 55. No one in my department would believe I'd actually do it. I'd feel sorry for them, but no one was interested in hearing how you plan for such a thing when I was there, and doing my planning, so if they didn't care, why should I?

I guess that's the beauty of socialism and communism if you're a lazy a$$...no one has to plan or achieve...just wait for the crumbs to be parsed out as the leadership sees fit.

No thanks.

Capitalism does not exist. It's a unicorn.

Ditch diggers are willing to work hard. So are the folks at McDonald's. Are they likely going to experience real advancement? Good honest work, but hardly talent that we can't find on any street corner.

Capitalism has provided a standard of living that has never been seen in the world before. Additionally, we have a guaranteed equality of opportunity in our country, but not guaranteed equality of outcome. For the best chance, stay in school, don't have children until you can afford them, get a higher education and proofread what you type. Either that, or don't bother and simply see if North Korea is taking in slackers.

You must be a real pill to manage.

Which is why Capitalism is BS. Everyone should have a job woth advancement opportunity if they are willing to work and work hard. Don't hand me me the Republican BS. That is only for the chosen elitists.
