Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Got My Severance today!

After 12 years, getting pushed out. Family doesn't want to move and probably a good time to leave given the pressure on Verizon.

AT&T does the same to their level 2 and 3 managers. No one is safe but hopefully you'll have your 401K and pension to retire on.

All of this is on the intranet. It isn't hard to find out what the severance policy is if you're really an employee.

"Sorry to hear that. Do you mind to share the formula for severance? Is the severance calculation based on the following formula: 4 week + 2weeks/yr * #_of_years_of_service?"

The official severance policy for director and below is still 2 weeks*years of service, with a max of 35 weeks. (Directors get a min of 26 weeks, those below a lot less!) Not sure what the 4 weeks is in your formula, maybe the notice period. That's not really severance as, depending on your management, you may be expected to work in that time (and of course be terribly productive!)

So, what Pay band were you and what was the severance?

Don't worry, the move to BR is just another stage before the next move. Each time the company sheds more weight. Maybe the new campus they're building in Irving next time?

If a toilet bowl were the center of the universe, then yes, Basking Ridge would be the center of the universe.

Didn't you hear? All the hip "technology" companies are moving to New Jersey!

Got forced out 2 years ago, best thing that could have happened to me, much happier without the toxic stress! It was fun for the first 30 years, he'll for the last two! You will be fine!
