Yes it’s true about the rif, November 16 is the date given to me by my director. He said layoffs will be between 15 and 20% depends on which department. 30 engineers were already advised. He said we are too top-heavy and management. Some departments will be doing volunteers others will not. He told me to get my resume ready.
I've seen multiple posts like this one. I seriously doubt it's just one person making this all up. What do you think?
My boss told me something big is fixing to hit. Reorg. big time with rif's. It is different this year, much bigger. Nov. 16th it is.
Where their Rifing 30 engineers, there’s 150 in the group 20%. This is Pennsylvania, New Jersey, MD.

My foreman confirmed it. He was told 20% from his group
20% is not new and has happened before. Yes there will major cuts but no all depts will be hit. Outside managers sill not be touched since they are needed. RIF means that head count is not needed which is not the case in the field. You have to be a real problem for the org to want to rif a foreman.
2017 is no different. Things haven’t been good for years. If your just seeing that, you’re blind. The yearly rifs have been standard procedure for years as the company tries to slowly see how far they can gut everything and still operate.

Wrong. 2017 is very different, in case you haven't noticed.
Don't let the naysayers give you a false sense of security, things are not good at all.
Much more likely that there will be an increase in head count of 10 to 15% across disciplines.

Its November. There will be RIFs. There have always been RIFs in Verizon in November. Wireline has always enjoyed this Holiday celebration and now the rest of the company invited to the party.
As far as OMG 20%, etc across the board...blah blah. No. Some groups will get hammered, some will get a trim here and there, some wont be touched. Just like always and forever.
Nobody is making it up. The layoff is coming just like every year.
