Retirement Insurance

The latest waive of surplus notification there was talk about retirement insurance and whether it would be available? Any word? Is it worth it to stay for the reduced premiums? No one can release or has access to this info - Benefits state that you have to be within 3 mths of being eligible. Ugh

Look at the total cost of insurance in your last open enrollment email. Add together the company contribution and your contribution. This is the worst case scenario. Best case is 50% of that number.

Just 1a, was previously 1b - My NCS is 1995 - I have the pension, wondering about health insurance mostly. I have 18 mths until eligible, just curious what the insurance “cost” will be.

Are you management? What is your NCS date? They are notoriously tight lipped about management retirement and pension benefits - I only recently found out that any management new hires beginning Jan 1, 2015 will not be eligible for a pension, only 401(k). I'm assuming retiree health benefits are NOT subsidized, if they're even available now.

Hourly employees hired before ratification of the 2009 contract (As late as August for the Southeast, as early as April for the West coast) are eligible for 50% employer contribution UNTIL their eligibility for medicare, when their coverage stops completely.

Hourly employees hired after 2009 until the end of this contract (2018 hire date cutoff) will be eligible for benefits in retirement but paid entirely out of pocket. Again, your medical coverage ENDS when medicare eligibility begins.
