Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Anybody knows if this is true?

The statement that Follett is getting rid of the higher paid employees is not a true statement

I know for a fact the some of new employees hired recently make more than the ones who were let go of left on their own.

Let the knowledge go and hire the clueless. The Follett way of life

If this is true, then it makes absolutely no sense. Laying off higher paid employees to hire cheaper workers at least makes sense as despicable it is. What in the world would be the reasoning behind this?

In the stores the past 3+ years, older, longer tenured employees have been driven out. The positions are not directly replaced. One or more part time employees are hired without benefits at a much lower salary. Some of the lost production is pushed to the teams. Other production is pushed to the SM to work out. Many stores will bring in temps from temp services to pick up front line production (talk about wasteful!).

This may not be true in the non-customer facing roles, at follett. It has been a way of life in the field.

Wait, we still hire full-timers? It's been nothing but Indian temps as long as I can remember.
