Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AT&T's Well Protected - Well Networked Employees ARE SAFE

Well Protected - Well Networked Folks: Employees with connections also get to keep their AT&T jobs, I have seen that. They are placed in positions protected by their mentors and moved around when in jeopardy - no matter their age, salary, or lack of relevant skills.

The good old boys network!!!

Some connected employees are protected, some are not. This current round, one extremely prominent 2nd level that supports an extremely widely deployed application got hit.

This person will likely find other employment due to being as well known/liked/respected and knowledgable

Networking is not the same as good old boys network. Totally different.

All companies do this, it's not the good old boys anymore. It's all people now and no longer just men. Had a manager that was a Technical Sales Consultant (TSC) with no direct report experiance come over and was there for 5 months and went back to her old position. Given att's policy is 18 months before you can move if not blocked, another manager was the same but a little different but they moved her too. 2 months later I'm on the street with many others. It is who you know and if they want you out they will find away. This is part of the 2020 initiative, SDWAN and have the customers do their own stuff and support people in S. America, Asia and parts of Russisa for wireless and wired support, contract implementation, tech support and orders.

There have always been people to s--- up to leadership that do know their products but don't know how to get it implemented and blow smoke up the A$$ of these accountant Execs that crunch numbers. It's like a infomercial on steroids. All the smiling faces and head nodding and clapping, its like watching a video of N. Korea.

I sat on a call with a level 5 VP over a customers billing issue and he said and I quote; "I don't know any of this stuff just get it done." Now take it, I was sales not billing and not supposed to do this stuff cause we should be selling but told to get it done. You know why? Cause this customer had Randalls ear and that lvl 5 did not want to look bad!! It is all SYOA!!

Net promoter Scores (NPS) are sent to customers and directive is to get 9 or 10. Anything below Is not good. Your told to find someone at that customer to give us a good one. It's all smoke and mirrors so your leadership looks good to their leadership. When you get a score of 3 for SLA, billing, outages, cancelled orders and so forth that is out of your control...it's your fault and makes your leadership look bad and may prevent your leadership from moving up the A$$ Kissing chain.

My old inside person told me the other day, they sent a email to support to have a pots line agreement (BLC) tied to a account number so it got the correct rates. Email response was, sorry..no one here knows how to do that! Have a great day...lmao, a product of outsourcing.

Att will go on and will be to big to fail and there will always be overpaid execs and their crony people just like at any other big company. That is the price of working at a big company these days. The only way to survive is to pucker those lips and start kissing.

Only advice is, start smiling, kissing and blowing smoke cause when you see the c---roachs scurry, you better do the same or watch the sole of that $1000 pair of shoes violently hit you with a nice splattered crunch.

This might be one of the most obvious posts on this forum. It exists at any and every company.

That's for sure. “I went to the strip club to meet our clients,” Fiorina recalled. “Being at the strip club was hard. Life is full of hard things.” You have to keep your options open, while being employed at AT&T.

Stop being salty. This kind of thing is not isolated to AT&T. Yes being connected is great. You become connected by getting involved and making an effort to stand out.
