Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Treat me with (some) respect please

Look, they're going to lay people off. That's not going to change.

But what the managers can control is what they say in the layoff meeting. What words they use. What their body language says. The message should be, "we really value your contributions. honestly. and we're really sorry to do this. it's only b/c we have to. believe it or not, this is really hard on us."

My managers were the opposite: cold, glared at me, made it sound like it was my fault. Never once mentioned that every single written review I ever got was above target. Seized my badge, kicked me out onto the sidewalk.

I am just asking for a bit of respect.

@PtfLDRa/ Sorry for the way you were treated. If it is any consolation, your managers will probably get the same thing in the very near future!!

Just accept that you are scum not worthy of any respect or consideration. Makes everything so much easier. And is more grounded in reality than any false perceptions of value.

The beat downs will continue. You will never get any respect. It just turned into a complete mockery....freakshow. Not the great company I started with years ago,. I work in a center in NJ don’t want to mention name we will just call it GTOC. Our daily day consists of beatdowns, abuse, bullying from management that have no clue about the network.. Sad what the place has become. You see commercials that look awesome showing the center..but behind the scenes you have one person watching everything just waiting for the next beatdown. This is no way to work. It destroys your health, homelife, and just drags you diwn to all new low levels. The big game plan is to make it so miserable that you just quit. Think again going ride this cash cow as long as possible.

@PtfLDRa-hpz do not quit!! It's hard to right now to find a job. Yes it's miserable there for all people below lvl 4 or 5 people lvl 3 below are just dancing monkeys for the guys holding the music box. They will find a way to get rid of you if it's not a package and or the F word and no not that one F word if they need to save on OpX. They got rid of me after 13+ years and yes, I was not hitting all of my 5 or god knows how many metrics. My old direct report went to marketing and new one came in and was there for 4 months before she went back to her old position and her last course of action was to move 3 of us on PIP before the new one came in and let 3 of us go they needed to cut 20% head count. I was in a lose, lose situation. I was told by so many, I would not be rehirable if I resigned on PIP and if i didnt hit all metrics, i was terminated and it was the last one. I asked my new manager, old manager, ops and HR on the exit interview would I be listed as not rehirable and they were like...um we are not sure but you could be listed that way for sales. Now take it, I won diamond club top 1% 2 times COE TOP 5% 1 time in segment of 10K people. Trips and so forth so many times over the 13 years and they are not sure if I'm listed on the black list for sales? Its not fun but do your job to the best of your ability and get another job. I know, easier said than done when you work 55 to 65 hours a week and have to train all the time. The environment is not conducive to a healthy life if it's killing you. It is a SYOA there, so save it and do what is best for you.

I agree and felt this way while I worked there. It was a nightmare. Employees who had connections received awards while the mistakes they made affected the work of others. There was one employee who took credit for a team's work and received an award while the team was not acknowledged. How does that happen?

@LDRa - I was on the call yesterday with the employees that WILL NOT be affected by the layoff. However, my manager emails me and ask where you not invited to yesterdays call? No, I was not. Meaning I should have been in the affected layoff call they had the day before. As of this email, I've not had anyone call and state -- sorry we made a mistake you are in the affected work group.
