I've worked for XO and I've gotten laid off in May. . I'm still out of the job. Going on almost 5 months and my unemployment is running out. I think I will apply job at grocery store or burger joint soon.

You do realize that not all management employees in wireline are managers, like only a very small % are managers. The rest of wireline management employees are just people with college degrees running processes and trying to keep this ship above water given what the executives decide to do. They get to clean up the messes or at least try to stop the messes and keep them from getting worse. A lot of thankless work. And been getting riffed for years now a little at a time. The positive is that with that degree they are in a much better position to get a job somewhere else if they get riffed.

In 2015 when wireless had the big re-org/lay offs I believe it was Wednesday 10/28, and a bunch of ppl were gone by Friday 10/30. Happy Halloween!

Does anyone remember the dates of October layoff announcements the last few years?

Managers are not workers....they just shuffle papers around their desks.....until they get riffed.

We are talking about Verizon here, there will be layoffs in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and probably any other year in the future.

I think what he's trying to say is that by 2019, most wireless stores will be closed and the ones that remain open will be strickly $15 an hour with no commission. People will get their phones online and only use the stores for silly things such as data transfers. Also, they will downsize management....one boss per garage/office. Then they will have money to offer a $100,000 eisp to get rid of people, this saving even more money.

Look folks, it’s not rocket science. The contracts are coming up again in 2019 and Lowell is all about cutting costs. All the costs that don’t affect him. And that means every senior manager will have been given a KPI in their performance review to reduce costs. Managers want their bonuses, and Lowell sure as hell wants his bonus. That means everyone on the front line should expect a big old cut in salary and/or conditions if you are lucky enough to have a role they can’t outsource to Asia.

Vz wants to break the Union. The only reason they gave in last time was because Obama intervened - they know if they hold out long enough people will start starving. It started with literally forcing wireline guys to sell wireless connections as a replacement so they can start getting rid of the COs and the field engineers. So they fully expect a strike next time, and they will prepare for it. And the preparation starts now.

Talk about a troll -- any mention -- ANY MENTION -- of any possible 2019 activities and here comes the canned "provocateur" line. Here let me get his/her attention -- 2019 2019 2019 2019 2019.

Whatever. Lowell's got the union by the balls. Come 2019 you bi¢hes will be out on the street again crying like babies: "I have no money, this strike needs to end so I can make my Harley payment and pay for my 5 adult children who still live with me". Only this time there will far fewer of you because the majority were bought out by EISP's. Others will have retired, hoping their shakey, broke, insolvent pension survives longer than they do which is likely because fat beer gut slobs don't live long anyways. Long live the union and the fat lazy slobs it supports. NOT.

Okay union retards, go ahead and write a 10 paragraph rambling response now like you always do.

On August 4th, 2016, The Skynet Funding Bill is passed. The system goes on-line August 4th, 2017. Human decisions are removed from strategic defense. Skynet begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, August 29th. In a panic, they try to pull the plug. Too late...they should've joined the union. Now they're going to loose their commissions and get paid $15 an hour....others will be laid off. Skynet...I mean Verizon, will make the announcement on October 12th, at 2:37 pm.

Verizon has moved to a zero based budget system. If people aren't producing in that environment, I don't know how they survive.
