Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Can this possibly be true?

Our GM said we are moving to an hourly only comp plan and commissions will be going away

A good sales person knows it’s quality over quantity. You can sit their and slam customers all day and yeah you get a nice paycheck but now you have customers realizing they’re being screwed and telling everyone know what happened.

If you treated customers right and sold them on what they need you would have repeat business and referrals which lead to long lasting paychecks over one big paycheck.

But VZW workers would never know that cause they don’t know how to actually sell anything.

Neither growth nor the customer are kings.

We all know that Lowell and his merry (g@y) band of VTeamers are king!

The REAL problem is senior management coming up with solutions, such as "The Winning Formula" and "Earn The Right." We spent millions of dollars getting our folks through these classes that teach them de-escalation and sales techniques, as well as other soft skills. They leave knowing what the customer needs always comes first.

They get back to their stores, and all that goes out the window. Senior management tells store leaders they need more HUM/SMB/TMP/ARD adds...and down the line. Which in turn has GMs telling specialists, which has them going back and selling the same exact way we always have...loading up customers with a bunch of stuff they don't want/need.

I want to shout down every senior leader who says "growth is always king." No, it's not, a$shole...the CUSTOMER is king. Treat them (and employees) right, and they'll be loyal. Abuse and use them, and they'll be gone, en masse....from Big Red, over to Big Magenta.

Stop with the mixed messages to the troops from senior leadership. Decide what we want to be...either a world-class, well-liked and respected service provider...or Comcast.

A large part of the problem is "Store Management" in the corporate stores. On slow days they come in and hang out for 8 hours, they also come and go as they please just as long as one of them is their. A lot of non productive hours wasted. During busy times one will stand up front directing all sorts of issues at the Solution specialists. They will not engage the customer and filter out the issues that we can't solve.. We had a senior that was having trouble with her Macy's App, because the "Solutions Manager"(Do nothing Club) did not at least tell her there is a 30 minute wait or tell her there's not much we can do apart from uninstalling the app and then reinstalling, she waited for 30 minutes with no solution. See the real problem in the corporate stores! No one will admit there is no "tech support" in the stores, it's a constant problem everyday and with a quota that's unattainable. Save money and get rid of the non productive Solutions Managers.

I suspect 1fcm has a hidden agenda in that silly post, that of provocateur. Yet the rank and file didn't fall for it.

Nice try troll.

Well they said GM so that would be a corporate store.

A change in pay structure would be Enterprise wide.

Retail retards...

This was being tested 3 years ago. I was in a VLSS voice of employee program and they mentioned a few stores in mid West were piloting this program .

Doesn't surprise me everything that team said will happen .

They also mentioned getting rid of experience reps and that happened too 2 years in the making folks

It's good in theory.

But the hourly raise would not make up for the list commission for the vast majority. It's basically a pay cut if that happens

You guys should be on strictly hour pay. They have wireless workers doing everything under the sun and you’re still held to quota? That makes no sense if they want you doing everything in the store you should be hourly and have your hourly increased. Everybody wins from employees to customers.

If the pay for fair, it would be a win for the customer. You wouldn't resent having to spend 45 minutes trying to reset something knowing that you're essential not getting paid for it, or at the least getting something to go toward quota and keeping your job

I'm not involved in your end of the business. That being said, would what you heard be a positive or a negative from your point of view?
