Long Tern Associates Beware

I was a 22 year associate with no history of job performance issues until late 2016 when i suddendly started getting wrote up for every little thing. I was fired for having 4 absences in 6 months! They said i could come back in 6 months. Since i was let go my former building has let go at least 5 other 20+ year associates. They are trying to get rid of us so they can pay new people less money and no benefits.

I’ve been with the company for 8 years now and I’ve seen it all. When they don’t want you around anymore, they will dig up every single little thing you did wrong and start coaching you left and right. I’ve even seen the market team do this to some of my managers. But when it comes to payroll, when they can’t ring-out the part timers anymore, they’ll start cutting full timers to 36hrs a week and pull you in the office if you go over. I think on average after the last company direction for payroll, our part timers have been averaging 24hrs a week, which allows them to schedule full timers the full 40hrs a week. We’ll see how long this last.

Pos0Dn5-taj. the targeted comment wasn’t about absence but about being consistently asked to cut back hrs and be forced to use PTO. as said it’s about budget dollars not hours. of course cutting hrs reduces payroll and that always comes from the p/t cashiers, however, they prefer to take a few high dollar folks off for the day. that makes an immediate impact and not hurt the memb service on the front.

Pos0Dn5-kk. and you are a target. me as well. each time it’s my mgr and i feel obligated or slightly intimidated. well no more i’m part of the RIF. ALL of those affected in my club are high or higher dollar long time assocs. guess they’ll have to seek other assocs.

4 absences in 6 months is a coaching. If you had 3 coachings in the system already....bye-bye! I'm a long term associate, never felt targeted.

Well anyone that has access to red prairie or the b--ching from management when the call comes in about payroll will tell you... instead of the old days when you were given "budgeted hours" for staffing. Now you get "budgeted dollars". They will call me and ask me to go home because they know I make more than most and have plenty pto to burn. I feel targeted.

that’s what the newest policy states. it sounds like they are cleaning house and you were in the crosshairs. they saw you as a problem and this was their way to get rid of you. i bet it wasn’t about absenteeism but one or more other things and could make this stick.
