The thing is many people view union workers as greedy sobs who care nothing about the company but rather their own hides. Meanwhile whenever there is a need for some belt tightening, it always seems it's the finance people who take it in the chin to lead by example. You don't see finance people standing around at the water cooler or caring much about breaks. They are more concerned about getting the job done. Meanwhile you've got many if not most union people getting all pissy if they are somehow deprived of a break. I've worked around both sides, so I know how it is. The union reputation is well earned.

@3nrs, I think you miss the point. Nobody's going around labeling legal, regulatory, IT or finance, in such a manner. But, when it comes to besmirching the union individual, vile comments are too often the norm.

Certainly the union workers played a part, but there seems to be a myth that they are the driving force. Lots of others equally built the company, including "boring" stuff like legal, regulatory, IT and finance,

These EISP offers from various locals are very limited. Surprised thought the company would want to get more people off the books.
Ibew 827 announced an eisp in NJ but it is mostly all in the northern part of the state and very limited titles.

Yup, just checked cwa2201 webpage and they have a list of titles being offered the eisp in Virginia, Maryland and DC. I wonder if they will offer it to other areas outside of Potomac.

OP is correct. I saw this last year in Aug 2016 before we knew of offer, when I put a date to retire after 10/9/16. Only those with titles getting offer will see this. Sadly, I don't think my title will get it this time. Good luck all!

I really hope that you are right. I know that when the company has offered eisp's in the past, they didn't get the amount of people to take it that they had hoped...but this time I think they would get plenty to take it.
Not sure if the offer if real or not.
But, the pension enhancements are referring to the increase in the pension band happening 1x/year in September of the current contract. When your pension band increases, your annuity increases, and the larger annuity is converted to the lump-sum.
With the EISP offer pension enhancements, it is stating someone who takes in offer in 2017 for example, would be able to have an "accelerated pension band increase" for the 2018 year. Hence, your annuity that will be converted to a lump-sum is higher prior to converting, which produces a higher lump-sum than the smaller annuity without the pension band enhancement.

What "pension enhancements" would effect your lump sum if an eisp was offered? I was under the assumption that an eisp is money that the company gives you to get you to retire and has no bearing on your lump sum buyout. Your lump sum is affected by the gatt rate, not an eisp. I just checked and I got no such bold statement on mine. I'm in NJ wireline.
