Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Goodbye To Assistant Managers?

Looks like Follett is eliminating the Assistant Manager position, especially if they are FT. Is this true?

Some VP hires a consultant that is paid many money buckets to support the VP's argument that 1 AVP or 1 Ops manager can be replaced by two part-time, hourly, non-benefited positions. The consulting firm is paid money buckets for constructing a plan to replace all AVP and Ops managers. They're paid more money buckets for implementation. They're paid bonus money buckets when objectives are met. The VP is promoted.

That's how it works at Follett and many other companies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uAyovudcJQ

The biggest cost benefit would be to lay-off GVPs. Stop laying-off customer facing associates.

Eliminate the number-two position in the stores in order to "realign" the business and screw over the store manager with more work? Fits perfectly into the company's psychotic strategy!

They never eliminated the ASM positions. As long as I've worked for Follett, there have always been ASM's. What they did a couple of years ago was reclassified positions. They did away w/departmental manager (GM position). They then created Operations Managers so that Follett would be more in line with other retailers. They do this to try to force ppl out (higher paid employees). I'm an Ops Mgr, I'll gladly leave this company in a heartbeat if they want to eliminate my position. Pay me my severance and then I can focus full time in getting a better job where I'm actually appreciated and not work for a company that is falling apart at the seams.

Ops managers are basically ASM's. I'm an ASM at a small store and this worries me.

They eliminated them awhile ago and brought them back. Then then also brought in Ops Managers? Some smaller stores only have an ASM and no SM. The full time Ops is what I don't get. Especially with an SM and ASM and an Ops? What does this position do?

Have you heard an approximate date when that will happen? And to the first response post, yes, FT ASM's still very much exist in stores, so this is concerning.
