I dotn see what they are doing. While other services have apps that run on boxes like Fire TV, Apple TV, these guys want to charge upward of $100. I have no idea what they are thinking
Are the rumors true that they are discontinuing it?

@1ddj read my comment carefully. I was pointing out that the 5G tests are gamed by finding homes that can get a strong signal. Lowell and the vendors are desperate for good news and milking these tests. No way will 5G be a mass market alternative to cable or fiber. Most likely it will be used selectively for business installations as a back-up alternative in case cables are knocked down by a storm or otherwise disrupted.
In the broadband battle, cable has won. DOCsis 3.1 provide gigabit speeds using portions of the coax network. While they have to increase fiber densities over time via node splitting, they do not have to worry about fiber to premise until they want 5G+ which is not going to be a typically offered speed to consumers for quite some time.
In FiOS homes, Verizon can compete, but never, ever will Wireless with 5G.
IPTV has been in various forms of testing for close to a year. They could have beaten X1 to market and been in similar shape. It's somewhat buggy and they've been perfectionists about it is the story I've been told. Because they were second to market, they're deathly afraid of launching unless it's perfect.
(Ignoring the fact that they changes they made live to the FIOS UI s--- and still haven't been fixed.)
IPTV is a great product . Wireless STBs, greater DVR storage, voice control , easy self installs and more. It's the people in the "big chair" that ruined it.
@wmm .. 5g is great if it is a very short distance and a very clear line of sight. Get a leaf, bird or something else in the way and there are problems. A few other outfits are saying how great it is or how great the speed is but they fail to mention the environmental limitations. Now factor in the 10's of thousands of micro antenna, towers, sites, etc. that will be needed to cover the U.S. and you get an idea of how long it will take and how costly 5g will be. 5g is great for ball stadiums, arenas and any large open area. Put it in a neighborhood with trees and bird droppings and there are issues.
Even then, 4g will be around for years as the fall back for 5g when a 5g signal fails and it will fail often. Move from tower to tower, down a street, into another room and chances are good you will be dropped back to a 4g signal.
5g will not be the saviour for any of the wireless companies that some expect it to be.
It's a shame. Have it for 3 months and like the service
5g trials are great, especially since they cherry picked the test homes. Really mostly PR at this point.

IPTV was undone by the failure to execute on a reliable service. First developer resources from OnCue were diverted to Go90 by Angiolet. Then there was bickering over the device courtesy of Guru and Kumar. Too little, too late.
This led up to Marni losing the portfolio when they took product dev. away from her.
The new kids on the block, Dixon and Dietle don't understand or care about video so there's killing it at Stratton's behest. Even three years ago Stratton was asking for for scenarios where we got out of video. It didn't help that Angiolet sold Go90 as the big savior of the company and failed to deliver. Now there's absolutely no trust for anything he says and IPTV has been tagged as one of his and Walden's boondoggles.
IPTV is dead. Gone, baby, gone. Video is losing subs. No sense investing any more money there.
We are run by followers not leaders... while management rains pain on the frontline workers to save a dollar. They are following not creating. Comcast has voice,netflix,roku..etc. faster equipment, simpler installs. The list is endless. The things that our competitors have on us is so far out of reach of our marketing and our 401b's that it isn't even funny. I won't even get into the fact that we are losing the $$$ of business every day to them. 10 years of pushing wireless over everything is going to bite us in the a-- like a rapid raccoon.
