Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Network tech and business tech groups were decimated

To the poster who said not many network layoffs you must not of paid much attention. That layoff in August decimated the network tech and business tech groups. Anyone who put in for that buyout got it. There are areas that had 6 or 7 down to 1 or 2 and others believe it or not that have none. They have the cst group doing network work there as well as in some areas that were knocked down to 1 or 2. I don't think upper management realizes just all what network techs work is.

I can confirm this, @PysDmf0-ldtz. Our group went from six to three people who are now expected to do double the work for the same pay. But at least we still have a job, right? Windstream for the lose.

I say you guys left are good until the major debt becomes due in 2020 I think it is. Dodged the sale-leaseback default claim via the swap.

Might have trouble finding money to refi in 2020, bankruptcy would be an option. Could then sale off a division or two at that time.

Also keep an eye on Frontier and other similar LECs.

I know right they’ve been cutting network techs for yrs along with bzt on not back filling open slots the only thing I’ve not seen cut yet is cst in my area, not long and they will be cutting us, in all honesty I think that’s why windstream created a position for station installers was to replace cst for a cheaper cost but station installers ain’t in the union areas yet but I’d say that will not be much longer and they will have them there also, but I do look for a cut in cst sometime soon due to the fact of windstream struggling to pay debt, since there now tring there debt swap, I researched the debt swap a little bit and basically it says a company does it cause there having trouble paying there debt and there tring a reconstructuribg process threw debt swap to try to eliminate some debt, I don’t look for them staying afloat too much longer, they will be lucky too make it to 2018, we will see when there 3rd quarter earnings are announced in November
