Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Its all about the money

I personally knew of one coach that got cut. Some time later, they brought her back as an HCM. I don't know how she is doing but thought that was a rather odd turnout. Its all about money. They get paid to have these people under a care manager. One flat fee. So now reduction in calls is in order so they can add more people to the roster, hence make more money. Heard they were unhappy about the amt of people who did not take the early retirement offer. So a lay off may be coming, heard earlier in here of Nov 1 via email. I think about the early days of being hired on in a mass hiring. It was absolutely shocking to me how disorganized it was, how it was "we love our older nurses with all their experience". "You deserve to be taken care of at this point in your life". years of service added to your age, if equaling 65 or more made you eligible. But the package was not all that attractive. Its a known fact as you get older, your health issues start to raise their ugly heads. So take an early retirement and then go where? Who wants a 63 year old nurse working on the medical floor at the hospital? Once you get to this magical age, society wants to push you out for a younger crowd which of course get paid less than the more experienced. I have seen it time and time again.

With the layoffs, they can't target older people due to potential lawsuits....so they may have one in mind and then pick others at that age so they don't appear discriminating
