Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Predictions for earnings?

Good-ish numbers across the board. VZW doing well enough although losing some subs to T-Mobile. Fios doing ok but tv subs dropping in cross-industry trend. Don't know or care about media or enterprise.

With the Marni news, I'm half expecting Lowell to announce his retirement. That's my pure speculation, no inside info.

Exactly. How many billions will stupid Verizon spend to try and make itself a cool media company. Something it will never be. EVER.

VLSS should put that in their pipe and smoke it.

Waiting to see the next heads to roll. Marni tried to spin her leaving as her choice. Meanwhile the pathetic content and media operations under Angiolet still have no home. The company needs the people who do the content contracts. The rest of it? Go90? what a laugh.

My guess is the day after Lowell leaves the ax most of it including that blowhard who's leading it now.

@1bth - Sounds like a tree trimmer getting rid of dead weight? And who is responsible for that "dead weight"? That's right the horrible leadership team that is STILL in place. They hired and approved the headcount for this so called "dead weight" including the biggest "dead weight" of them all - VLSS.

Now $hits hitting the fan and the easy growth is gone and all they can do fire fire people. Again, sounds like desperation and you are an idiot.

The short term mentality is abound here. Someday the 'younger' workers will be the 'older' workers making the inflated wages and their a$$ will be on the firing line. Then see what song they sing...

Sounds like a tree trimmer getting rid of dead weight to me. This company has been suffering from bloat for so many years, many of the employees from the pre-Verizon days just cannot comprehend what it takes to remain competitive. Sometimes you've got to get rid of the clippers and pull out the chainsaw to do your trimming.

Earnings were terrible. Wall Street is just all excitied because subscriber growth was not negative.

I love the shady accounting around device payment plans and how they twist that into revenue when in reality people are just slowly paying us back for the $800 device they got for free. Without interest by the way. And let's not forget declining revenue from all you can eat plans.

This entire year is a joke. The growth days are over and it's time to start paying the $120 billion in debt McDumbass racked up.

Zero cost budgeting to keep the dividend afloat, $10 billion in cost cutting over three years. Smells like desperation to me.

It is a fine company for the newer folks. The people who've been here forever and make far too much than what they deserve need to go so it keeps being a fine company for the rest of us.

Let's us not forget why 3Q numbers look good...2Q reductions. The remaining XOs got their walking papers yesterday to help 4Q and reductions shall continue in order meet that $20B goal. The ones calling this a "fine company" have invested 5 years or less so keep thinking it's fine...you'll be on the proverbial list I've day.

If He retires it would certainly be a big loss. He is hands down one of the most brilliant leaders of any corporate business in history.
