..meaning we're going to be told that "changes" are coming and I expect that we'll be told that we'll receive notification as to our future status by the end of the week or the end of the month at the latest. More torture, it's just unbearable living with the sword above your head all the time.

Just found out Charlotte, North Carolina call center not renewing lease on building.
Like the last poster said update your resume and look outside. It has taken me 5 months to get an offer after I got let go after 13+ years. There are jobs but tons of competition and it's not fun. I know you all are working like a third world employee but take a few hours out whats left of your week to get your resume out to anything and all. There is no where to go in ATT unless your nose fell off from all the brown nosing weight l. Only spots seem to be IOTor firstnet and those spots already have someone set in there. I'm taking a pay cut to a competitor but I have soooooo much less quota and responsibility!!
Guys and gals - update your resume and start looking now. Once you are out, you will not be happier! It's not as hard as you make it out to be. Nobody is forcing you to work there. Get out.
What came of this?
Anxiety
Tension
&
TERMINATION
As someone who has worked at AT&T for over 15 years -I agree with the poster, almost every year is a reorganization year, and your business unit is usually impacted, good performance and high ratings don't always save you. Being told 6 months into a year that changes are coming-then being told on pop-up conference calls that you're being let go or will be notified within 30 or XX number of days if you still have a job, then to wait for the notice..is unnerving and stressful. Yes one can go somewhere else but for the average employee-we don't have golden-parachutes, stock options, or 6-figure bonus packages, we're just trying to put in the years in order to make that magic number to qualify for benefits. To the commenter that stated the poster was being a cry baby, if you are an actual AT&T employee then you are too new to understand, or are part of the culture problem within AT&T. Good Luck to everyone.
Agree with OP. Also agree that "cry baby" response is classless. The website is a forum for discussions that should be free of attacks.

Total victim statement, what a jerk, you have no clue and sound like a 5 year old. why do you feel the need to insult. You obviously are not part of this and those that have been part of AT&T over the last several years know exactly what the poster is talking about.
I agree with the poster and don't see it as whining at all. Many of us have invested 10, 15, 20+ years of hard work and established our lives around a company we took pride in helping grow as much as possible year after year. For a layoff plan as large as this being managed in a way that all we can do is try and sift tidbits of news & updates from forums such as this is simply pathetic. Employees deserve a better form of communication, period.
Then quit cry baby. "Poor me living with a sword above my head". Total victim statement...
Layoffs are a way of life at this joke of a company. People want to piss and moan but no one leaves for a better opportunity.
