Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I heard commissions were going away in store

and sales reps would get a bump in hourly anywhere from $4 to $8.50... Has anyone else heard about this happening. I was also told the top sales rep each month in the store would get a $1,000 store leader spiff and 2nd place rep would get $750 and 3rd place would get a $550 spiff...

I did the math and it would still possible to make $50k to $70k under this new payout structure.

They basically already did this when they switched to the new comp plan. New lines don’t pay you but you get in trouble for not slamming growth.

Anyone who moved from RSR to Experience Specialist has their base commission added to their annual salary, and that became their new annual salary, and continued to be paid hourly in order to be eligible for overtime pay. They then moved quickly to exterminate these expensive employees.

I see something very similar happening, with new hires hired at a much lower hourly rate.

Don’t be fooled, there will still be sales goals and repercussions for not meeting them.

That should get rid of all the slammers, stackers and all the "you get this for free" salespeople that made Verizon great. Now all the ones that are left can play "Tech Support " and bulls-t the customers for hours at a time while trying to sell them hums and jet packs. Sounds so crazy it's most definitely true.

If they got rid of commission, think of all the jobs that would suddenly become obsolete. They could probably get by with half the SM's, half the DM's 25% of ops teams and completely get rid of anyone who does sales or comissions reporting.

They would be able to cut a ton of headcount through operational efficiencies.

Doesn't sound right to me...what happens if #1 sales person only sells 30 phones in a month and he would get spiffed for $1000, I think not. There has to be some minimums...like 200 phones a month for #1?

Confirmed from HR that this is happening but not sure when. The company is definitely looking to move away from the commission structure. Seems like it could happen real soon.
