Severance Package

Can anyone legitimately explain to me the severance policy? My HR nor management know anything about it. I'm the accounting lead and was told I would receive a severance package, however no one seems to be able to tell me exactly what to do. I have read the wire and know it's based on your last 12 weeks worked. But what paper do I have to sign and return? I didn't get anything!!

This is the way they get rid of 20+ year people. If you can think, Walmart Inc, doesn't want you anymore. They have slowly gotten rid of most of the employee's at all Sam's Clubs. Most clubs have removed the positions completely through the years. Each Sam's club has about 75-100 people less than when the club opened. They just spread out the position through two or more people, then it goes to two people, then it's one persons job. So the person that really excells, gets two peoples job. And is expected to do it with a smile.

I wonder if they have really considered how they are going to do the fund raising that all the cash offices have been doing for 20+ years, or the reports that get filed by the cash office folks for managers, because they don't know how, or don't know the system.

I really hope they get what they have coming. Been s---ing it up for years now and Dec 1 is it. Managers and co-managers are the problem, not the solution. Soon there will be no employee's that know enough to help anyone. And that's when the Plus member ship people will stop buying this membership, and hopefully membership period.

Over the past 20+ years I have watched this company take every worthwhile paid holiday and get rid of it. I guess they thought Sam was full of crap looking after his employees. They have removed all the perks of working here.

Now they are removing accounting offices where knowledgeable people work. Soon the receiving offices are scheduled for a change. I guess they think the lazy co-managers will pick up the slack. Really? Who do they think actually keeps this company balanced and running, it's certainly not the managers, it's the real time, long time, hard working employee's that gave their entire careers to this lousy company that says we don't need you anymore.

You can run all the adds on tv you want to say how wonderful you are. News travels fast and so do the wallets of long time employee's that will not be shopping there anymore. I'll take my talent and money with me to a company that really cares. When Walmart figures it out, it's going to be too late. Especially when the woman they thought was the answer has to answer for her own racist views on who to hire and why. What happened to hiring folks because they meet the job description? Better meet all the requirements or we can't hire you, then they find out the person is a piece of crap, and they can't fire them either for fear of being sued.

Very confused was told to check wire but policy very vague , So I went to PTC and then she said that she would ask the manager because she had no information . Manager told me That the severance package would come by mail seven days prior to December 1 Also that it is a weeks pay for each year that you worked at Sam’s and it would be average last 12 weeks

I have read and printed the policy. But it is still very vague and can be misconstrued very easily. It would be nice to have someone to ask questions to. But no one knows anything.

Log into the Wire . In the search bar enter " Severance Benefits

Policy". It will come up, the date on the policy says January 13,2017.

Be aware that policy may change.

Thats what I'm finding out. I just hate staying and leaving without a job lined up. Especially right before Christmas. But I am leaving regardless, I guess thats what I've paid taxes for all these years. Give me unemployment and let me have a relaxed, much needed vacation.

PFk7BA1-mlm. check your info on severance. i was told you must stay til dec1. that’s when the job title is deleted. if you leave sooner then you’re just quitting your job and leaving the company. if you take another job in sam’s then go whenever. but unless you’re offered a great job that is worth losing severance don’t leave til dec1

Totally agree. Not to mention the fact that it's right before tax time too. They will regret not having people to do tax receipt questions and histories for our spoiled members. I just wish the "rules" of severance were more clear.

If you find another job you can quit now and you'll still receive your severance. Also in most States PTO is paid out at time of termination. The Store Manager is the only one that received all of the info on this stuff so that is who you should refer your questions to. The PTC wasn't given any kind of info and has been kept out of the loop.

I'm a lead that will be losing my job also. I plan on staying until Dec 1st, take my severance package and then file for unemployment. Let them pay me to have the winter off after screwing me out of my Sam's Share, not to mention the sick and personal time I will be losing. Totally not fair that the other people that will be losing their jobs will be there until Feb 1st, so they will get their share. I think Sam's is making a huge mistake getting rid of the people that have the most knowledge in the club.

PFk7BA1-jhk. every state is different as to when you can file for unemployment. your time frame is not accurate for some. so check your states employment commission website

if u accept another job then that’s your new job. no nothing after that. but if you take severance you must work til dec 1 or thru dec 1 that’s a fri so end of pay week. i completely understand your anger and confusion. it truly pisses me off to stay and train someone to take my job. now that’s assuming the clubs will find enough people willing to work for 12-16 hrs even making up hrs wherever. and if you stay pt you lose money doing virtual the same thing minus money counting. that’s the no brainer part and of course your sam’s share is gone. we have been screwed in every direction possible. i so hope this blows up in their face and the first p/l shows massive losses

What if I receive a job elsewhere before dec 1st? Then what happens? Do I have to wait? Will I still be eligible? Or should I not take a job and be unemployed on dec 1st? So confused. And pissed about my personal account being wasted.

You will receive papers in the mail fedex on the 2nd of dec.to sign in mail in.go on unemployment web site on the second and file a claim. The longer you wait to file the longer it will yake to receive first check. I was done on june 1 got my first unemployment check july 13. Will get unused pto time in last pay.try not to use any until dec.it helps to get by unril you get unemployment...severance comes in lump sum but it takes awhile to get...good luck

I know it's a weeks pay for each year you have been employed. And it's based on your average of the last twelve weeks. I am screwed because I had so much PTO because I had no one to fill in. Soul I've been taking 2 days a week off for the last several weeks. But my real question is how do you get it. Do you have to apply? Is there a packet in the mail? No one knows here. PTC says check the wire. Management says ask PTC. 🤷‍♀️

And yes. 100% leaving. That or cashier. No thanks.

a full calendar year and average of previous 12 weeks. so go back and look at sept and be sure you work a full 40 hr week till dec 1 you still won’t get the 40 hr average but get as close as you can. it took me a while to grasp it. out PTC is clueless. then you have taxes out of that. do you want to leave or can you work 16 in cash office and get hours elsewhere?
