National Business Layoffs

There have been back to back to back calls this morning for those in the National Business and Retail orgs. Voluntary exits are being offered first - those remaining are on on the bubble. Executives, Directors, and AVPs are riding their parachutes to roles in other orgs in advance of this. Good luck to all.

Company is striving for a 10 to one alignment and eliminating Director level. With the retail labor contract never being resigned, you have to wonder if it was because of the transition from COR to AR's and the CWA asking for assurance stores wouldn't close. Retail calls are scheduled for next week.

Good luck.

What is left of national business will be a pale shadow of the size it is today. Many titles are being eliminated or significantly reduced. I bet 50% of ASC will be surplussed... maybe more. We've been outsourced to the solution providers. We probably should have thought twice before sending all of business through them. If you don't write your own orders or contracts, you aren't critical to the business success and really expensive too. A cost cutting company that wants to sell ads more than move bits and bytes is paying for the TW acquisition with the salaries of its dedicated long time employees.

All SBS folks, both sellers and mgrs have been notified of surplus. Biz in retail sellers and mid market (as we know it today) are forming new acquisition team. Beyond that, we do not know the structure.

Can you be more specific? I have heard the rumor about the Business channel, but what about Retail?
