I think 3 buildings are left in Irvine. Verizon sub leased the other two after closing down the call center. This plan was in place before they decided to fire the west area so they now have three mostly empty buildings. They keep shuffling around the few employees that are left down there which is another expense. They could go down to a single building in my opinion.
The Walnut Creek lease is up in 2018. It was a 5 year lease executed in 2013. You know, when a regional president was based out of there?
Fast forward to today and it's just another expensive ghost town. Will they renew it? I don't know, but the market is pretty hot in the bay area so if they do, it will be expensive.
Agreed, we don't own it, we lease it. That begging said, it's an expensive lease. We used to have five buildings.

OP says Verizon owns Irvine. Nope! Irvine Company owns Irvine, Verizon simply leases the office space.
With that being said, the place is a ghost town after McDoufus decimated the west area. Verizon doesn't even have their name on the main building anymore.
The lease is up soon. Why keep it? The glory days are gone forever and they want to pull all operations back to HQ. Any half intellegent AD can see that :)
