So I have a recording Edward Screven laying off people, shall I publish it to show Oracles lack of respect for people? Families this a-- has interrupted. Any advice is welcome and where can I post it for maximum effect. I don't give a sh!t about any severance from this jack off, have enough money to survive, this about what is right.

Honestly nothing against Oracle as a company, but some of the clowns that run it. It's a joke, they want to be seen as caring about community, family, people and diversity. If you don't add to their bottom line, gone. I hate hypocrites, Edward small man I have no morals Screven, has to be the most unethical persons known to corporate American. I was in the military, and I fought for the after birth to destroy peoples lives. I'm a senior Director at Oracle and have had to lay off many people. You're given an official script and warned not to deviate from it. I'm sure ES was reading the script.
The worst experience I've endured was laying off 14 excellent U.S. employees who did absolutely nothing wrong. They were swapped out for new hires in India. 1 US worker = 6 Indian workers. That is all Oracle cared about. Never mind the hundreds of years of experience that walked out the door. I'm being laid off tomorrow. It will be a relief to be out of that viper pit.

There was quite literally 0 surprises and no entertainment value to the 2 mins ES spoke. It was scripted. The only interesting thing is that he had to repeat a line because he couldn't read properly. Why this has 55 replies I fail to understand.
Several folks in the meeting room I was in recorded it as if he was going to say something.

At least there was a recording. Many moons ago, in a tech company not very far away, that was very well regarded and still is (started with an A), there were several rounds of RIFs. This was a little over 23 years ago. I took a package. There were no meetings, no recordings. Only a Fed Ex with a form letter. Still, I harbored no bad feelings. Is there any great way to do a RIF? All ways are equally s---y in my book. It is the worst thing to be involved in whether RIFing or being RIFed.
Edit it down to just the introductory statements, the bit where he says that this is our last day, turn in oracle equipment, wait for FedEx package, and the final operator end the call statement. That will give us all the gist of what went down and how.
Have your lawyer post it and post it now while there is still internet. That way your protected through lawyer client privilege and oracle can never find out who you are

Op asked for opinion wether to release or not. He received enough compelling opinions to release it, but still not release it.
Maybe he has it, maybe not. But I think the idea is showing off that he has it versus actually releasing it.

@1xnc - post the WARN period when you're no longer on the payroll, it would be useful for folks to b me able to point to the layoff of several thousand people rather than to have potential employers wonder i they were fired. A big difference in how potential employers view you. Hopefully most people will find new jobs over the next 60 days but some may not.
I don't see how that's relevant unless you can prove that you were laid off and not fired for cause. Pointing to a relatively unknown web site isn't going to help. And O certainly isn't going to provide any verification either, unless you already copied the layoff paperwork stack you signed and bring that with you to the interview, which would look mighty desperate on your part. And if it comes down to whether to hire you based on this, you have bigger things to worry about.

Oh, please make sure that its posted somewhere. With oracle refusing to announce or confirm layoffs this is one of the few pieces of evidence that exist. As such it needs to be publicly available so that we can all point to it in interviews as confirmation of the layoffs.

Look, getting laid of really blows and yeah we're all bitter about it. But if you think anything in Screven's script is going to rock the headlines, you're in for one helluva anticlimax. What were you seriously expecting? Drama and violins?

To be honest I doubt it would impact the company in any meaningful way. You can bet it was carefully vetted and any seeming cold or callous delivery is already exprcted by those who are in the industry and by shareholders.
But it may help those who are still with the company. Even up to the last RIFs before August where they cut a majority of sparc eng. people on the internal sparc/solaris email lists-especially sales for some reason--were still drinking the Oracle koolaid.

I'd like to see the Screven layoff concall in the OP's possession disseminated. I doubt very much that it would shame Oracle because, hey, this is Oracle we're talking about. That said, if it gives a wakeup call to people still at O who may want to try to get out (if they're not actively working on that goal already), the release will have served a purpose. Plus I'd just like to hear it. Did Screven really close with "Operator, close the call, close THE CALL, CLOSE THE CALL"?!?

You are duty bound to share it. If we can't listen to Screven's cold, heartless, tasteless pre-rerecorded parting message with our own ears, then it didn't happen. You must share it to protect others from this kind of treatment.
