Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Wireless Sales Rep layoffs?

Anyone heard anything? I've heard they are cutting the bottom 10 to 20 percent in solution experts.

They will not riff wireless sales rep for one reason. Reps have the power to vote for a Union in their store and the company will not risk creating mass panic among sales reps.

I would have to disagree, I have several very close friends who were tenured reps with Verizon who have left for TMUS and love working there. The atmosphere, culture is totally different and they are now treated with respect and valued for their contribution to the success. It is just a matter of time before VZ pushes out their best in an effort to reduce salary and commission costs. The less expensive replacements are also not the same quality of salesperson. You get what you pay for, as VZ has been saying about the network for ever. To bad they don't eat their own dog food. You may be able to replace retail somewhat with online, but when it comes to B2B the customer buys from who they trust, understands their needs, and can provide a cost effective solution. VZ will learn the hard way that the cheap millennial replacements don't have the work effort, knowledge, or experience to close and maintain our larger customers. The competition is paying a premium to poach our top performers, I know from first hand offers. I can beat out a turd sales rep selling VZ every day of the week regardless if I am working for Tmus, T or Sprint... The wireless industry is high stress, high reward when it comes to sales and is definitely not for everyone. Leadership is trying to increase productivity by the stick and not the carrot. It never works. Smart reps have been tucking away our big commission checks knowing this day was coming so we can leave and have time to ramp up with the competition. We know our customers, contacts, and what they need. It will be easy to take the business with us.

Competition?

You know they're all pretty much like Verizon. Get out of the cell industry all together.

Agree that they are trying to reduce the workforce by raising quotas. I am not going to quit. I want to stay and watch this stinking ship sink. Competition will hire the top performers if/when needed.

Getting tied down to verizon by using the tuition reimbursement is rather foolish imo. Not only are you further tying yourself down to a sinking company that you're unhappy at but even when you're done with schooling you're still required to work for a certain length of period or be required to pay VZW back. Some things in life are far more important.

I learned after i left VZW even though i was making less money when i started my new job i was a lot more happier. Money is nice but happiness and stress free life can't be beat!

Some people rely on medical insurance for their family from vzw and some people are using them for tuition reimbursement. There are many variables why some people won't leave right away.

I think it's fear as well as ignorance that they don't want to leave. They don't know any better they think Verizon is as good as it gets. That's so damn close minded.

How the hell is a job that dumps work load on you all the time. Changes your job title without compensation, quota changing so fasts your head spins and seeing constant layoffs as good as it's going to get.

Here's hoping someday they wake up and smell the coffee. Plenty of other places out their pay better and treat you better.

Verizon's culture is changing for the worst. They should've went to an indirect only model a long time ago. Instead the are stealing from sales reps paychecks until the rep quits or just sits back and suffers until the ship sinks. They prey on individuals who want nothing more than a robotic lifestyle. Some who who is easily manipulated into their cult like culture. Don't question business motives or you will get fired, sell products without customers really knowing what they are purchasing or you will be fired. Truly all roads lead to getting fired honestly but the ship continues to move. The reason reps won't leave is based out of fear. They fear they won't have a future outside of Verizon or won't make decent money. This fear mentality mimics slavery not true business, there isn't any fear in business

Why PIP reps out and pay severance when you can raise quota and sales dollars. Lowest performing reps will quit bc they are starving. Costs the company nothing.

It's been said many, many times. They won't RIF sales. No need to pay secerence. Just PIP em out and Lowell's free and clear.

A good cleaning solution is bleach and water.
