Slow closures to replace major layoffs

I don't think there will be mass store closings where many locations close all at once. I do think there is a store reduction number that leadership wants to see happen. And that number is to be achieved through store closures or transferring a store to indirect on a store by store basis. This is already happening as some select authorized retailers have been opening stores that look very similar to Verizon company stores and the new store design is one that can easily be assumed by an indirect if they chose to move it over to them.

So to summarize, store closures will continue slowly, quietly on a store by store basis. No one is safe at Verizon including store employees.

No one is safe is right. Citi Corp analyst suggest Comcost buy out Verizon for $215 billion. Many California stores have already gone indirect and in some area's, SM's (assistant managers) have been let go. These area's have retained a handful of floating assist mgrs. Sure looks like VZ is preparing to be bought out.
