Does this mean there will be no layoffs in 2017?

As soon as the TW deal closes they will be laying like they do after every merger/acquisition.
The question was asked "does this mean there will be no more layoffs in 2017."
Silly rabbit, T has already proclaimed their mandate and will continue to march on to their 2020 objective, fewer employees. In doing so, previous layoffs before us and the severance pkgs offered, have insured that T will no longer need to pay for a number of extras that came out of your pay check:
No more matching dollars to your 401k
No more dollars into your pension
Reduced savings, to some extent, on Healthcare.
I could go on but you get the idea. They have hit their quarterly numbers two times running and are about to embark on a TW merger, plus setting sights on the 3rd qtr numbers. The math and desire to make both happen will equate to jobs.
Hope for the best, and you know the rest! Yes, more layoffs before years end....I hope I'm proven wrong
We were told yesterday that the Mexico call center is not doing as well as T thought it would. Maybe T will stop outsourcing now.
I heard of massive cuts over in outsourcing (IBM Go to Market). A friend of mine was on a call yesterday and even senior engineers are at risk for layoffs. they had the nerve to ask for volunteers. I mean if they really want people to volunteers why not sweeten the pot? He says he will not volunteer, they will have to push him out.
Subs came from Mexico. Are you a Mexican OP? Or stupid? Or both?
They are laying off at my center.
I agree with egf. Earnings have nothing to do with layoffs. Management is in the business to wield power, abuse the masses, and pad their bank accounts. And as you note, it is only Q2. Plenty of time left to chop people. Watch your back.
No, it means Randy's bonus will be bigger. The cuts and outsourcing will continue unabated.
