Why so silent here - there is a ton of posts on Wal-Mart's page, but here nobody comments?
Are people afraid?
How about Optical Manager layoffs?
Any laid off folks here?

How is Hoya working out with the package deal?
Anybody hear any more about optical layoffs?
This company is causing lots of stress by trying to be so secretive . People worring about their jobs and supporting their families. I was told not to visit sites like this. My response is we would not have too if we had some real leadership where the company would be forthright and ethical with their employees . True , we may be going down the wrong path with all the speculation , but whose fault is that? some honesty would put us on the right track and there would be no need for these sites. By the way Nation vision did go public last week.
To the person who commented “the company is fixing to do a lot of changes”...you must be from a club in Arkansas! Which speaks for itself. Lol!
Even if this is true, the GM's would not know at this point. There are situations where GM's are married to optical managers working in different clubs, so the info would leak. The company isn't that dumb. Nobody knows, people are just speculating. It's entertaining to say the least.
“No” one, not Know one. Don’t judge I’m sleepy.
They are being sold to a third party company. I’ve heard this from several sources. The market optical manager was in our club and I made the comment to my gm “what are they doing here anyway they are being sold to a third party company”. The immediate response from him was “how did you know that! Know one is supposed to know”. He said the company is fixing to do a lot of changes, told me not to say anything but they got a list of all to come. And he said it’s not good at all.
In response to the previous comment, I believe there are only 22 states that require a license so to make it a requirement to be an optical manager...not going to happen. Especially when the company is trying to operate spending as little as possible on wages, and license states have a higher pay scale. Maybe the company has decided to spend a little money on training and this manager was lucky enough to be part of a new program. (I know, doubtful...but you never know!)
We got a new optical manager today. She said she had to go to Florida for training. I have never heard of that in the 8 years I have been here. U go to another store and train for a few days and boom you are a manager. Who really does not know what they are doing. I asked why are they doing that and she said she could not talk about it right now. Is any other optical manager making this training trip that you can't talk about?? No disrespect to u managers that do know what you're doing and don't deligate. Your job to your opticians, but at this sorry club they may take an pharmacy assoc and make them optical managers. All optical managers should be LDO's. In my opinion . If Costco built a store near us they could go ahead and close this store.
Optical going 3rd party
Well that's great I wonder what's coming for optical...
There aren't as many employees at Sam's as there are at Walmart so there's not as much activity. We are all freaking and hating this waiting game. We know something is coming soon, but we don't know when or what. Either way, this company is sinking and John Furner is not helping it at all. For someone who started out at the bottom, he still doesn't get it.
A coach told me just days ago. Had I heard about changes coming to optical and I said no. He said changes are coming , he would not tell me what changes, so I said good and walked off. I will wait to see if there was anything to it.
