Since the latest contract was for four years (retroactive to Aug 2015) wouldn't Verizon start priming the pump this spring with EWA selections? Just curious is I need to plan. I was EWA last year and it definitely seems like "once an EWA always an EWA based on the folks I worked alongside.

As a retiree who has a lot to thank the company for. I took early retirement being if I tried for 30 years I probably would have died from a heart attack or stroke from all the stress. I have my pension, my education paid by the company, great health insurance that I took advantage of for my family. In my retirement I am doing a job that I love and do not look as a job, rather a labor of love and with my pension I am making more than if I stayed at Verizon. Management needs to work with the union and not against them. It is called teamwork. Should there be a strike at the end of the current contract, I will be siding with the union brothers and sisters fighting for their jobs and benefits. When the call comes to see if I will be willing to work as a replacement worker, I will be passing. Being true to one's self and to others you have worked with is a sign of ones character. Loyalty goes a long way, and over the years that loyalty from management has disappeared. My two cents.
@3zio I'm 100 serious . I asked my DM and HR rep if I could work an E WA. I have always wanted to work for the landline side. But they said NO. 1 year later I was laid off as part of 1 of 2 major cuts in retail. I remember conference calls where the head of VzW retail dept was at my store reading to there reps about the E WA. I even asked her but she didn't know either .
Perhaps the OP can head to Houston TX to install voicelinks as an EWA since during the strike customers told me it took theffect replacements only about 4-6 hours to install each one that we ended up since taking out...

OP, you are lucky you got E WA. I was a retail employee and I begged for a E WA, only because I needed $$ , And wireless refused to give me OT. But to no avail, I was not able to work E WA and a year later was part of the retail layoffs . (Phase 1 of 2 massive layoffs ) .
Please note I only wanted to work E WA for $$ and experience, no disrespect to our landline reps.

I believe an answer to your question was given earlier. Simply put, you can't plan at all. If the company forces a strike you will simply do what they command you to do. You will report to where they tell you at a time of their choosing. If their "plans" for you aren't to your liking, I guess you could "plan" on quitting.
I suspect the OP has a hidden agenda in that silly post, that of provocateur. Yet the rank and file didn't fall for it.

What is the rationale behind your post?
What plans do you need to make?
Once those plans are made, what point are they,
as things might not happen at all or,
it could last a day or,
it could last a year?
How precisely are you going to "plan" for something that's not scripted, could go in a thousand different directions and, places you into a situation in which you're just following orders anyhow?
Why don't you instead just relax and, if you need to compulsively plan, plan for next week or, better yet, for your next vacation, or a family outing, a camping trip, or for the Holidays?
Stop worrying and pondering about hypotheticals that are two years away, if they ever come to fruition at all. It's a silly waste of brain activity.
A lot can happen in two years.
