Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Unable to look for jobs internally!

I was out on maternity leave and my department was being laid off. They said I couldn't look for jobs within VZW while out. Is this true? Has anyone been able to look or interview while out?

Not to sound harsh but it's Verizon's way of pushing you out. HR has no say in any decision that is made. They will simply "run" to the good old spineless attorneys representing Verizon to make the decision for you. By no means will they care about you or any Verizon employee. Contact your attorney immediately. That's your only chance- but ask yourself is Verizon really where you want to be. It's the WORST company to work for. My bet is you are FAR better than Verizon deserves!

This is true. What department are you in?

I was going to go out on a leave of absence and was advised to use vacation time instead because I wanted to apply for a position back home.

That happened to me two days before I returned from maternity leave. It was quite convenient that the misogynists got their way.

That's true on the landline side, if you're on fmla, you can't apply for anything. Job, lateral, downgrade, nothing.
